  1. Dryden looks like he plays guitar for a college band in that picture. I'm trying to figure out the velcro strap thing. I assume he would just crank the strap around the glove at his wrist to make it really tight? I remember Pelle Lindbergh getting some kind of credit for adding a wrist strap that became an option on the Cooper gloves. Looked like a nylon strap. Prior to pro - was just some tape:
  2. I'm in NJ. So my kids have played all year for the most part. Rules will vary by rink. My home rink lets the kids dress in the rink but spread out around the outside of the rinks. No lockerooms yet. But everyone can come in and watch now, so you have kids getting dressed right in the common areas and you now have to wade through bags and gear. The smell. My oldest is in High School now, so add smelly teenagers to their gear. Brutal. Men's leagues are somewhat in the lockerooms. It's 50/50. Our rink is understaffed to say the least, so nobody is enforcing rules. The only people there are the kids who run the zamboni. Other local rinks are. Same 15/30 minute rule for players entering. But they have actual staff working there.
  3. It's clearly a Mylec. I have a good source.
  4. Get bigger. Like 6' wide. Technique? Fat guy in small net. What I used.
  5. I got a pack of wild turkeys in my yard and all. They're major league assholes. I would so love to punt a few of those greasy bastids. These dirt balls fly. They sleep in the trees. So when they fly, they're scary loud and have HUGE wings. They run. Fast. When they are scared they motor quickly. If it's twilight or darker, they scare the crap out of you. They walk in gangs. All over the place. They don't respond to me shooting them the finger. I often add some sound to me shooting the finger in some Mr. T quotes about 'turkey'. They like to stand on my Jeep. Scumbags... They will walk in the road in a pack and almost block cars. I think I can't hunt them. They know this. Jerks! They hold annual scraps to figure out who the tom is. They wrap their necks around each other then throw talons. The rest of the jabronis stand around the two brawlers and make noise. It's comical. These turkey bullies will scare away the Canadian Geese, deer (absolute wimps) and even people. Their outlaw cousins come by every so often. They are called Turkey Vultures. I've shot those savages with nerf guns. Sounded like Santa was on my roof when they landed on my roof. The Mega Nerf darts work on them.
  6. Neither of my boys play goalie. I get asked often at the rinks why. We don't need to explain, do we?
  7. I'm DaveArt 4 Life Brotha!
  8. My wife has a Subaru. I'd rather ride my skateboard than worm in and out of that car.
  9. Stiffness? No sweat. And fellas, she'll like it too.
  10. The Leaf is cool. "Spirited ride"? My 95 Wrangler is a spirited ride. That thing has been paid off for decades and costs me $300 a year to insure. I was shopping the Hyundai Sonos EV. But the price was more than I thought for a tiny car. Jeep EV will cost an arm and leg. Can't see it having much of range. There was an electric Jeep in the 70s. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DqcvEExs0Pw/S55Rs4jjhuI/AAAAAAAABbQ/c-cEgHkRFTU/s280/electruck.jpg Lead acid batteries (it was the 70s) equated to a 40 mile range at 40 mph.
  11. I still don't think there's a savings for an electric car vs gas powered. Teslas are way cool and a luxury brand (see Hummer), so the electric part is just part of the novelty for sure. But I live in the Philly area, there are good number of Teslas around. But not really that many other electric rides as of yet. My Jeeps stink on mpg, but I enjoy driving them all year. I always feel bad for those that always have to justify whatever they're driving. Like 'yeah its a -whatever car-, but it was a good deal and gets good mileage'.
  12. Seeing how arm "pads" were basically quilted sleeves.. I can understand why blockers were almost as big as a leg pad.
  13. Gas in NJ is getting near $3/gallon. Don't forget that back in the 2008 ish, when gas was upper 3/ lower $4 (I know CA and Canada are more) that trucks were going away fast. Hummer brand died. The Jeep Commander flopped... it was sad. Look how many decent newer trucks were turned in at the cash for clunker thing under Obama. I think Ford making a Maverick / Transit truck is smart. Delivery fleets need them. The bloated mid-size trucks will suffer the most as the full size ones will always have a commercial market. I hope gas prices are just increasing due to the situation in Texas... but you never know. Those Broncos are worth some real money now. Along with all the square body trucks from that era.
  14. The ranger body is "sleeker", but at 211" long, the F-150 could be shorter in the 209" configuration. Width, I think they come in at the same (less the Raptor). Price? $24k for the Ranger with the F-150 at $26k. It's not the Ranger of old anymore. The Ranger being sleeker looks smaller, but is it? The F-150 is taller with a taller grill for sure. The scale of the new vs the old is apparent. IT's what the market wants for sure.
  15. Sharp. So sharp - it kinda looks like road/street hockey gear.
  16. They do offer bigger engines in them. They call them F-150s. I'd think that there had to a line between the Ranger options end and the F-150 starts.
  17. We have three dogs. They look like three dogs. We have two goldfish. We got them at the carnival two years ago. So they're 'carnie fish'. So watch your wallet around them. If they were human...this would be them.
  18. Thanks man. Wasn't the smell of skating rink pizza and the sound of the Ice Ball machine in the background that made it a blast?
  19. Been a bit - how you doing? I got bored of playing. Pulling the gear and leaving the family - just as you said - wasn't worth what I got out of playing. I don't miss it yet. Been two years. I think my wife misses me being in better shape.
  20. I learned to sew keeping what little gear I had going. To this day I break out the sewing machine or just the awl to the amazement of many. ha ha. I didn't get on any ice until I was done college.
  21. I have to do a fake company for my quality management class for grad school. Yes, I'm 43 and still in school like a jabroni - but I made a company that does QA/QC for goalie gear and named Mr. Heaton as my supposed president.
  22. Not sure the Devils ever wanted any parts from the Rockies. Have they ever gone near wearing anything Rockies related? Meanwhile...
