  1. Giving Agatone my money for gear and never seeing an ounce of it. Selling my Heaton Helite Z pads. Missing out on a brand new pro-return H5 c/a by a couple minutes. Buying 452 CCM Tacks...ohhh my feet!!! Buying a Miller c/a (not from Glen but from Paul at the GSBB) that turned out to be a full right and thin as shit. I was never told.
  2. You get fanboys from both sides. That being said, both brands are/have been used in the show. Both brands have past the standards imposed by government. Difference I see, if you have an issue with the 3i, you can shoot Tony an email or pm and he is most likely to answer and help you 1 on 1. You have an issue with the Bauer, visit your pro shop and good luck getting direct feedback from the manufacturer.
  3. Haven't seen any recent new spec pro-returns up for grabs on the web, like the one TGN got his paws on. Am I looking in the right places?

    Warrior G5

At this point it seems like manufacturers have exhausted any and all possible innovation imaginable. Warrior is quite ahead of the game. Bauer is the only one trailing behind. Brian's is trying hard to keep up and CCM just woke up. Factory Made, Mckenney, JRZ and a european brand that the name completely escapes me at the moment are working hard at being original despite their size.
  5. Yes, the quality is very present. Only issue I have, other than what I already mentioned, is that they printed the number on the same side for both attachments which means one of the pads has the numbers facing down unfortunately. Minor oops but for 40$, I would of liked better attention to detail. I didn't bother bringing it up to them. Here is how I'm looping mine. I have the no cowling Vapors, same principle still.
  6. Can someone please measure the length of the elastic for me? Just want to make sure mine ARE senior size. Been using mine since the beginning of the season and I find them real tight to my skates and they make my pads rotate out when I get back into my stance (when you gotta wack them back into place with your glove/blocker). Been using the suggested method of looping through the runners, and my skates are only size 9.
  7. Anyone still using Brian's last c/a model he made when he went solo?
  8. What is the weight difference and fit difference between the X8 and T3?

Any updates or reviews on this new C/A? Won't look into it until I hear more.
  10. Any personal mods done to it when ordered?
  11. Thought I'd give a small update/first impression/mini review here since these are an old model and very hard to find, especially new like mine and not worth a full on breakdown. These aren't light as per current Brian's and Warrior standards but they don't weigh a ton either. At 36"+1 they maybe weigh 6lbs a pad. They are definitely a soft hybrid like pad but I still managed to get a few mid size rebounds off of them. Coming from some 12" pads, I do feel and see a slight difference in how they sit and move on my leg. The channel is a good middle between wide and snug. I decided to not use the knee locks to accommodate my Vapor knee pads - BIG mistake. I must of landed off the blocks in my b-fly at least a half dozen times. Not doing that again. They slid nicely on fresh ice as any pad would. They slid ok after 90min. of ice time. I put on the Pro Laces I bought last spring. Although I did feel some flex, they were still a tad tight for my ankles which was in turn hard on my knee joints. I have to figure a way to give the toes a little more slack. I only wear a size 9 skate and yet, strapping it up over the boot was work, even if only using the first 2 holes of my cowling-less skate. Over all, I'm happy with my purchase. Now I have to get rid of my new found Giggy b-fly
  12. My new recent purchase: Bauer R5 6000 Pro pads. Got them for a steal and the match my Warrior GT gloves. Trying them out tonight

    R GT/2

I got a chance to try on the SR GT2 catcher today at PHL and it closes like butter and feels a tad better in closer angle than my GT1 but the GT2 does seem a tad thinner in the palm than my GT1. Is it just me? Did I end up with a mislabeled pro glove?

    McKenney XPG1

@McKenney Hockey Longtime user of your stuff here. My questions are as follow: 1- Is the elbow cup in the new revised c/a laced-in one both sides or just the one still? That is one issue I have with my 870 model, the elbow cups tend to roll out or away on the side of the excess material. Very annoying when suiting up and I'm always pushing up on them during the game to keep them in place. 2- Have the shoulder caps and floaters been tapered down for better side viewing when tracking? Another issue I've found with my 870. 3- Will there be a retail contact in the Ottawa area? 4- Would there be a demo program for say, the catcher, especially if there's no local shop carrying? 5- Can the XPG1 knee block be available on the Pro Spec pads, or have you done that already? Might have some more but these would do for now. The new pants remind me of the 994s you ghosted for Simmons. I did like those when I had a pair. My current 855s are still holding up quite well

    R GT/2

@Kirk3190 If it's not too late to take suggestion for the blocker, I strongly recommend making it in the "high" position permanently. It feels more balanced, better on the paddle down and avoids trying to locate the 100+ velcro attachments to undo and reposition. Doing this was a task beyond what I expected lolll. And one other thing, how the hell do you guys grab your water bottle with the blocker? I got the SR GT and it's a friggin' struggle e-v-e-r-y time

    Mckenney Gear

It's pretty mobile. Not too heavy, breathes well. As for protection, you can feel the puck. I've had a few stingers in the arms but nothing to keep me out, then again I'm not afraid of bruises. It's fine for beer league, not sure I'd face the pros with it though. I have faced some ex midget and junior players and survived. It's clearly on the lighter side of c/a units.
