So I got me a X8 mask (cert. cage). Fit is good but not like a glove of course. Not going the custom route for now. My issues/concerns are: my nose touches the front bars. Anyone else? And the chin cup is thinner than I expected. Anyone suffer a cut upon impact?

Any news on these bad boys? Use, comfort, durability and safety feedback?

So one of our own on TGN @craig did a generous offer for one of my goalie friends and he gave me permission to share his work with you all. The goalie in question is in his early 60s and was wearing a much too small mask, so much that I was afraid for his safety. This is when @craig stepped in to help. He referbished an older mask and even did the paint job. I am very very grateful to him and I'm sure so will my friend be once I present him the mask. I believe it's an Eddy mask (correct me if I'm wrong John). So here is the work in question...

I'm hitting the ice in September. Our rules pretty much reflect the comments above: Mask, half dressed, no showers, 15 minutes here, 15 minutes there, would you, could you on a boat with a goat, yaty yata and all the rest. My beef or criticism is: have any of them tried to sit in a vehicle with an adult goalie chest pad and put on the seat belt, let alone try to lace-up your skates and strap on your pads while wearing the monkey suit?!? What will come of winter days? If we all show up with a mask on, what's the issue with the change room? Don't double book and alternate per double sessions so you have time to disinfect the room! The masks come off on the ice anyways. If guys fall down and make skin contact on the ice, will they stop the game to sanitize? Nahh. And after 5 months of no hockey (which some guys don't do other sports during summer to keep active and fit), once one starts coughing cause he's gasping for air and all the extra fat, alcohol and cigarettes (or something else) ingested during the summer break comes back up in the form or thick phlegm, are they going to ring the alarm and put a full lock down on the rink?!? As much as I want to see our world get better, there has to be some common sense involved here. It's like going to the cashier to pay for your purchase and they don't have tap so you have to insert your debit card AND ON THE DEBIT MACHINE THEY PUT CELLOPHANE TO COVER THE BUTTONS. WHY!!?? TO PROTECT THE MACHINE FROM INFECTIONS?? I digress, sorry...

Just tried 2 different cans of non-alcohol beers from the Sober Carpenter out of Montreal and they both were awful!! Avoid this brand unless you wanna test for yourself.

I wear the X700 for 2 seasons now and I have gotten some uncomfortable shots off the toe, more like where the runner meets the boot which makes for a very dulling pain on my big toe, and yes, I have ample room to prevent banging. Just an unexplained occurrence. The original Grafs were always with cowlings and with the new cowlingless model, one wonders if the newer model is simply reinforced (thicker) at the toe cap. Apparently not.

Ok...do you find that the toe cap is ample safe to go without the cowling?

Anyone got their dirty paws on a G5 c/a before launch?

My 503 (AKA 1800) lasted me a decade and I had bought it lightly used as well. It seems heavy but not really, and for the amount of protection it has, it's nothing to worry about. I too had issues with the back plate. I almost did the Roy mod to it but instead simply cut off the lower wings that wrapped over/under the ribs off of the spine padding basically squaring it off, and I replaced the 2 straps with simply 1 larger one. Gave me a better rib wrap from the sides. As for the arm straps, I simply did some stitching work to keep them in place. Good choice. And as an ex GSBB myself, welcome to the new crib

Other than my recent new Warrior c/a, this was the only other purchase I made the last few months. This isolation is sure helping me save for new gear in the following months

Is the toe cap as substantial as the Bauer one? Also, being that the Bauer cap is much more square, how does the pad feel when sitting on the Graf? I know you tried that already, admit it

I second the visual effect observation. The G5 gear seems larger/wider/bigger than the GT2 set. Excluding the catcher's T, can you confirm?
