If these come in a size 12 wide, I'm getting a pair. True Bladerunners

All new ANKLEL@TCHL(O)CK Technology exclusively by Lefevre:

Lefevre: Goalies, you ever wanted your ankles to be latch locked into place so they do not move AT ALL and have your skates go up to your knees so you don't need knee pads anymore?

Goalies: No.

Lefevre: Bienvenu! Welcome to all new ANKLEL@TCHL(O)CK Technology exclusively by Lefevre!

Goalies: Uhhhhhhh.  Isn't Bauer the company that invents new problems and solves them against our wishes?

Lefevre: Roy never wore Bauer though.

Yes and no.

I agree that them tossing in a wrist strap seems to be a white flag of sort that sounds like:  "fine, here's your wrist strap you bastards". The Mach glove is a good glove.

However,

I think Bauer missed the mark on the get go with the R.O.M.  It needs a slight revision in order to be an effective change for people to gravitate towards and adopt that change.

A third, mid anchor point for the outside strap and some added customization on the thumb side would do wonders for people to get their preferred feeling (Warrior does this, CCM is on their way) and really let people make the glove their own.

I'm using my Mach glove with a slight QC quirk and a reefed down zip tie method and it's been better this go around than my first Mach glove. But, when i switch back and forth between Mach and my Warrior, it's very apparent how much more thought and design went into the Warrior strapping system over the R.O.M.

All it'll take is a slight tweak to make the Mach glove fantastic, unfortunately it doesn't seem like they got it right this time.

Maybe in 2026

Haha, or conversely, maybe some people are excessively embracing of change?

How many pros are using a stock Mach glove without a wrist strap? How many goalies on here have bought a stock Mach glove and said "Yes, finally, this is my glove"?

Speaking for myself, I've used 100% Vaughn since I started playing at age 12 and did so for 29 years straight, The Bauer Mach line was exactly what I needed to see to get me out of Vaughn.  I'm very dialed in to what I like and what works but also how I wanted to change as a goalie. I got my first set and my response was "Yes, finally, this is my line of gear, however........."

The nature of change is that some change fails, and that's fine. I don't think the sensation of "my glove constantly feels like it is going to fly off of my hand" or the experience of my glove actually flying off my hand makes me, personally reluctant to change, it just makes me justifiably critical of this particular change.

Obviously I'm not going to be 100% right on this, but I think that Vasilevsky is the only NHL guy to be using a stock Mach glove.

I'm basing that off of:

1. No wrist strap flopping around
2. The backhand being the same as Mach catchers.

I think most guys are still using Ultrasonic or 2S builds and the backhands reflect that.

Curious thing about Vasy is that he's still using a US blocker based off of the wrist cuff.

Did you M5 actually fall off your hand? Even before using the zip tie method I never had the glove actually come off.

Sure felt like it some days though.

It came off once reaching to my left on the ice for a cover and was going to fly off on a glove save but I managed to turn my hand upward to fight the gravity, so to speak, and kept it on about halfway.  Both happened within a week or so early on and it was the Aha Moment I needed to say "ok, this change sucks."

I had a forced habit of jamming my hand deep into my glove as lays developed or before face offs to combat that flying off feeling. The zip tie method was a major game changer to locking in my hand.

I still do it, but it's far less 'needed'.

Just for shits and giggles I took some photos of the difference in strapping position between my Mach and G6.

G6 is looser but my hand is far better locked in. Strap is located further down to go across right above the wrist line and has three separate adjustment points and tons of more adjustability to place the velcro.

Mach is a one and done. Even with the zip tie adding a third point, it's still not low enough to lock the hand into the glove. It just tries to push your hand against it.

Let alone the difference in being able to open it up to dry.

I’ve seen a couple AHL goalies wearing a Mach without a wrist strap.

And the Mach was my favorite glove until I just got a Vapor90 and still don’t use the wrist strap on the Vapor90.

Nice, is it easily removable on the Vapor90?

My Vapor90 is MIA, so I don't have personal experience with that model, but I wear the True 580 completely unstrapped. Once you go unstrapped, I find it hard to go back

Can't find a clear image, but almost positive Woll is using it too. I know he was at one point, because I posted it on the gram. Not sure if he still is.

Hate this argument... we are not pro goalies. How many pros use sticks that are a current model? Yes, "change for the sake of change" exists and retail release calendars force brands to change things... but just because pros don't like something doesn't mean it's not good innovation or better for average goalies.

Maybe he was in one last season.

This year it looks like he went back to a US.

I actually agree with you here, fully.

I only separated pros from us because, well, we watch them on TV getting paid to do what we spend money to do for fun and that's not nothing.

But let's take that separation away so it's not confused as an argument point:

-how many users of stock Mach gloves have rejected it due to the absence of a wrist strap?

The answer to that question speaks to my argument, which is that Bauer failed on that aspect of the glove, which is further supported by them bringing back a wrist strap in Generation 2 of the glove.

I have no ill will or sour grapes against them for it, in fact, I'm waiting for the opportunity to throw them $3k+ on a custom Shadow set.  I can't wait.

I support innovation, both successes and fails.

I expect a post in the Modifications thread by sundown.

Probably won’t be cutting it out but have definitely thought about it.

That’s exactly what happened when I got my Mach got used to not having a wrist strap now I can’t use it.

That's surprising, at that point it's like a velcro knee wing when you put the knee strap down to the calf area.

I have the CCM 580 which is essentially the same glove (correct me if I'm wrong) and I can't imagine wearing it fully unstrapped. It doesn't feeling sloppy on your hand?

See that I take off but at the same time I don’t have to cut anything and I can always put it back on if I at some point want it

True, especially nowadays.  Resale value would be wiped with it cut out too, most likely.   I guess it just seems like a bulky, invasive thing that touches you a lot for something that is not being used in its intended, functional way.

I ordered my G6 glove with the wrist strap and I'm still undecided if I want to use it. I didn't use it much because it interfered tons with my Warrior chest but maybe the Mach chest is different. I liked the secure feeling it provided and with my hand nearly slipping out of my G6 gloves a few times lately it may be going back on. Loved having a wrist strap on gnetik and didn't mind it too much on any other glove.
