  1. Finding a full right stick is difficult, then finding a pair that fit me price-wise is a task. Then, I look for stuff like performance.
  2. I agree. If I was negotiating and I got a better deal on a piece of equipment, I'll tell the seller thank you and that I got a better deal elsewhere. Otherwise, I don't back out.
  3. I can't help but agree. It was difficult trying to figure out the fit between my pants and the thigh boards on my old Brian's Demons.
  4. This is interesting. As far as I know, the other manufacturers have not done this. If I were to order a 34" Brian's or Vaughn pad, it would be the usual 34" pad, maybe with a different thigh rise size, depending on the manufacturer.
  5. I was asking about it from a design perspective. Was there a reason to make the pads one actual size bigger than their stated size? It would confuse some buyers. I don't deny that True pads look good and probably play well. However, with the long wait times, if I do go custom, I'll choose another company.
  6. Out of curiosity, why are True pads and the CCM Axis pads sized bigger than normal (someone who normally wears a 34 should wear a 33 in True or Axis)? Is there a performance advantage to having the pads run big? This would also be unfair to the shorter adult goalie, because someone who would normally wear 32s (the smallest stock senior size available) would be forced to wear an intermediate pad, just to have something that fits, and protection on intermediate pads is worse than for senior pads.
  7. Are any of those full right?
  8. Wow. If I didn't have a perfectly good pair of Bauer Elites, I would be tempted to buy these.
  9. Interesting. I wonder how people will react to your Bauer/Cooper hybrid blocker.
  10. Some time ago, I found a pair of 33+1 Premier II's on Sideline Swap. I've played with them, and have figured out that they are a little too small. My knee is above the center of the stack when I put the pads on, and I think the size has also caused me some problems in closing the five-hole. What I enjoy about my current pads is the hard rebounds, so I'd love to get something with similar characteristics. Does anyone have any 34" butterfly pads (Vaughn, Brian's, CCM, or similar) or M butterfly pads (Bauer) that they'd be willing to trade to me for a pair of 33s? If not, I'd be willing to buy the 34" pads and sell my 33" pads separately when I get the 34s. My current pads have been used before, and have a few more puck marks. I have added toe hooks to the right pad and a set of improvised elastic toe ties to the left pad if anyone is wondering about that. Since I got the pads for $300, I think $270 or $280 is a reasonable price to sell them for. I have attached pictures of both pads below.

    Bauer Pad Sizing

Try L. Bauer starts their senior sizes with XS (32") and goes up one letter for each size (e.g. S is 33, M is 34, etc).
  12. What didn't you like about elastic toe ties?
  13. That makes more sense. If it's not explicitly prohibited, then it is legal. I also thought that tape on the pads would give an unfair advantage, but then it doesn't do anything to affect the surface. If both goalies are using sliding tape (or a built-in slide plate), it doesn't disadvantage anyone.
  14. Elastic toe ties might help provide a consistent level of tension. Maybe this will also help @lukehuizenga.
  15. There are national tournaments for adults sanctioned by USA Hockey. https://www.usahockey.com/adultnationals I'm curious if the level of play there is different than beer league, and if so, is equipment enforcement there more stringent than beer league. I would assume that the Allan Cup, the Canadian equivalent, would be similar.
  16. It's a cool idea. My question is whether using the stuff is legal. Other sports have a dim view on using foreign substances to enhance performance (corked bats, Spider Tack, and stickum), so I wouldn't be surprised if hockey had rules against that. The other concern would be that adding tape to the pads might cause them to be too wide. Is there a way to put on the tape that wouldn't break the rules? I'd rather learn how to slide while on the ground via proper technique, and if I get the technique down before using hacks such as tape, good. If I learn with the tape, I'm not sure if it would help me once I use pads without tape, or if the officials notice that I have foreign materials and tell me to remove it.
  17. Too true. The Bauer Konekt skate is cool, and hopefully more skates will adopt this lace-free concept.
  18. That's very interesting. I haven't had that happen yet on my Bauer Elite skates, but I'll keep that in mind if I need to replace them.
  19. How does their blade retention system suck? Anyway, a skate tying system that does not use laces is a very cool and interesting idea.
  20. Are there any performance differences when using rockered skates that one needs to adjust to? I'd think balancing characteristics are different, because less of the blade touches the ice than with flatter skates.
  21. It's curious then why Price and Ward would have that pad, if it only has long rebounds for a short time. But then, Bauer Vapors hadn't been invented yet.
  22. So V9 is Vaughn's hybrid/soft pad, and OP wants to customize it to play more like a butterfly pad? That's an interesting idea, and hopefully he can make it work.
  23. Interesting. Do the beer leagues you work for use USAH sanctioned officials? I'm asking, because one beer league in my area uses in-house officials, but the others appear to use USAH officials (I've seen the officials wear USAH patches at those games). How did you adjust to using player skates? Were there any techniques you used to compensate for the rocker on player skates?
  24. Good luck. Hopefully you find a better team for next season. Or maybe you can help the team turn around like Travis did with Varberg.
