  1. Interesting idea. If I go through with that, I'd need a second set of pads just for ice use. It might take me some time to come up with the cash. I'll consider that, but I'd first want to see what people have to say about Kenesky. Maybe I might get lucky enough to find someone with a used set in my size.
  2. What about grey or silver? That is also a colour, yet neutral enough that it could suit almost any team.
  3. I used their chart and was confused. On the one hand, a 20" FTK (my FTK measurement) fits in a 32+2 pad, but that pad is for people from 5'8 to 5'10. I'm 5'11, so my recommended size based on height would be a 34+2. Thus, I don't know what size to use. I find it interesting that you say durability is lacking. I'm surprised that one of the three approved ISBHF pad sets has a severe design flaw like that. To my knowledge, international ball hockey rules require that pads with a sliding system have sliders built into the pad, and only 3 manufacturers currently satisfy that: Passau, ReasonY, and Kenesky. I'm also curious about why you think ReasonY pads have gotten worse the further they've gone away from trying to replicate ice hockey pads. I get that they're trying to create a distinct ball hockey product, but it's not going to sell well when the pad has to be shipped in from Europe because there are no North American retailers that stock it. I've seen complaints on Facebook from ball hockey goalies that the rebounds are even harder than rebounds off butterfly ice pads, so is that the problem you are referring to with the newer generation ReasonY pads?
  4. What exactly do the hands do in an RVH? If I understand that, I might be able to figure out how to apply it "backwards". Of course, I could understand what the hands are doing from watching a regular goalie. However, because I am a visual and kinesthetic learner, watching a full right goalie doing the VH and RVH would be most helpful.
  5. I've tried to find demo videos on post integration that have a full goalie in them, but I haven't had any luck. I'm looking, because the hands do specific things in both the VH and RVH positions. I'd like to get more knowledge of how to go down into the RVH in particular. I somewhat have the hang of the VH for the glove (glove should be high on the (right) glove side to catch shots, stick should be angled so that the front of the net is covered) and stick (blocker covers the gap between the pad and the post, stick is angled to take away the front of the net, trapper is lower to catch shots/passes across the net face), but I don't know what the hands do in the RVH. Any visuals with a full right goalie would be helpful. Are there any videos of Pavel Francouz or Logan Thompson practicing VH and/or RVH?
  6. Wow, you're saying that the pads are slanted when they are on the ice? I wonder how that affects proper pad rotation.
  7. I've heard good reviews about the Passau ball hockey pads, so I'm interested to know how they compare to the Passau ice hockey pads. Are the materials and technologies used in the pads comparable? What differences are there, other than the built-in sliders on the ball hockey pads? I've been thinking about saving up for a Passau ball hockey pad set, and want to see what folks have to.say about them. On a different note, how do Passau ice pads compare to existing ice companies' butterfly pads? I think that if I like the Passau ball hockey pads, I might try to get Passau ice pads later, when my Bauer Supreme 1S Od1ns wear out.
  8. I would prefer 2. I don't like the all white look, because it feels plain and boring. It also gets ugly very quickly when it gets hit with pucks. If there is white + another color, or color 1+ color 2, then the pads look bigger, brighter, and feel more enjoyable to play in.
  9. What is the CoverEdge supposed to do? I hear all these crazy material names that aren't always self-explanatory, and so I dismiss them as marketing hype.
  10. He might have been referring to Perani's Hockey World. https://www.hockeyworld.com/ It has locations in Michigan, Western PA, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee, if you live near any of those places.
  11. Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to check it out. On a different note, it's a little easier closing the 5-hole with my new Medium 1S Od1ns. It feels different to have a pad where my knee is centered in the stack and not above center.
  12. Update: I got a pair of 1S Od1ns from someone on Facebook. Is anyone still interested in my 33+1 Premier IIs. Shipping will be from Rockville, MD (20850).
  13. It's curious that there aren't any full right demo sets. It would make more sense for guys like Trav to play with glove sets that match their natural hand. I'd be interested to see how good the Axis 2 glove is, and see if it could be something I might consider in the future. Anyway, I managed to get a pair of Medium 1S Od1ns for $200 US (including shipping). Will see how those play.
  14. Update: I can consistently slide if I'm going from my feet. When I'm in my butterfly, I'm having trouble consistently getting my skate to dig into the ice and push. I have to get my toe into the ice, because if I push from the heel, I start spinning. Is there any type of exercise that can help with that, or is this a question of blade profile?
  15. Remind me who Jurusik is? I know that Holtby, Oettinger, and Khudobin all played for the Stars at some point. I'm guessing Jurusik is an AHL player now.
  16. Honda Fit. I have to fit my sticks in the gap between the seats and the door, but my bag fits sideways into the trunk.
  17. Yes, it sucks that the Wild got rid of their younger goalie, but Fleury/Talbot should be a good 1A/1B combination in net. Perhaps the multiple-Cup winner will be enough to push Talbot and revitalize the Wild.
  18. I agree. She's good enough to be committed to play women's college hockey, so I'd be interested to see how her career progresses. Hopefully women's pro hockey will be a viable thing by the time she graduates, because right now the two active pro leagues are very small and peripheral compared to men's pro hockey.
  19. Interesting. I thought the blocker was designed to grip the stick without the need for esoteric mods. Or is this a way to make it easier to grip a stick with the trapper?
  20. It is fixed now. @ThatCarGuy what is the pentagrip? What are its advantages and disadvantages?
  21. There aren't any photos in your post. There might be something, but it only shows circles and lines.
  22. Once I've paid, I don't pull out. If I change my mind, I make sure to do so before I pay.
  23. What do y'all think about Eve Gascon making her QMJHL debut? Yes, her team lost in OT, and her performance was statistically underwhelming (18 saves on 23 shots), but she kept Gatineau in the game for a long time. I watched the game, and what killed Gatineau was giving up too many penalties and their inability to clear their own zone. Rimouski had problems with going offside, but they were able to capitalize on Gatineau's miscues.
  24. I had been using my Demons for 5 years of ball hockey, and probably would have for more if I didn't need to upgrade my gear to play ice hockey. I wonder how he negotiated his fit with both thigh boards and knee pads.
  25. I agree. Every other company has the option to order one piece or partial combinations. I don't get why True doesn't do that yet.
