  1. You see, that's the problem with the kids these days, they've lost all respect for themselves
  2. Yea, I knew the jogging wouldn't end well, but it felt fine at the time and I did it anyway. It's like doing jello shots and banging a fat chick, it feels good at the time, but you regret it the next day. ...gonna do the biking now, like I should have from the start.
  3. Switzerland is green-lighting indoor sports for adults starting Monday, so looks like we can play roller hockey this summer. But my knees are still too busted up from jogging, so not sure if I can manage it. How's that for irony?
  4. Canada finally played with some authority in their win against Norway. Or Norway just played like sht. Anyway, important game as they are each fighting for the second-to-last spot in their group. No relegation this year? So the bottom 4 teams just go home after the preliminary round?
  5. I haven't seen so many people in one place since... oh, nevermind
  6. Glad to hear it. Those kind of weird injuries like you described, from lifting something heavy or in an awkward way, usually go away by themselves in a couple of days, or worst case weeks. Yea, stretching is good for those. I also try to avoid medication, unless absolutely necessary, since that doesn't treat the root cause, just masks the symptoms. I had some chronic knee pains a while back. I could play, but it would really bother me. I'd only take painkillers when I had a game. My wife's parents are doctors in Ukraine, so I got some good stuff, I think it was some kind of semi-legal snake venom or something. Whatever it was, I felt no pain. You could probably shoot me with a .45 and I'd still keep playing Check with your Doctor and Lawyer before taking any Ukrainian medications
  7. In other news Belarus beat Sweden 1-0 yesterday ... anyone seen Tommy Salo lately? https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2021/wm/gamecenter/playbyplay/24356/13-swe-vs-blr
  8. Canada dropped their first two games and is tied for last with Italy. Tell your cuz they need to put it in gear before they get relegated
  9. Anyone watching? Congrats to Latvia for beating Canada 2-0 for the first time ever https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2021/wm/news/25629/latvia_stuns_canada True, Canada doesn't have their A-Team there, and it's early on in the tournament where teams are still "finding their legs", but anyway, well done Latvia.

    Tavares Injury

No way anyone could fault Perry on that. The initial hit on Tavares was maybe a little unwarranted, but still Tavares would have been fine, if not for getting plowed by Perry, who had zero time to get out of the way. Yea, freak accident. Not good to see. Hope he fully recovers.
  11. I'm not really big into running, I started a little during the lockdown because there was nothing else to do. My 14 year old could still have training 3x per week, so while he was on the ice, instead of sitting in the car and waiting (parents not allowed in the rink anymore), I would go jogging, I'd do about 10k in one hour. 3x per week. But I think my knees weren't ready for that ...and I thought goaltending was rough on the knees... maybe I'll try biking instead.. *edit* My son had some knee issues a few months ago, and the doctor gave him these knee braces. He doesn't need them anymore, so I tried them a few hours today, and WOW, I don't know what voodoo is in there, but my knees felt REALLY good REALLY fast. I'm gonna wear these MF's every day now.
  12. Last season we only got to play from Aug-Oct then they banned contact sports in Switzerland for people over 16 (my 14 year old could train the whole season, but no games). It's been pretty tough with no hockey for me, I've played the last 25 years without missing a season, and I'm 50 so it's half my life. I've taken up jogging and working out at home to compensate, but it's not the same. Actually, I blew my knees out now after running 30k a week for a few months. So now I'm just stuck doing upper body stuff. I really hope they allow us a regular season in Sept. Or at least regular ice trainings. The restrictions/lockdowns are taking mental/physical tolls on people that they fail to show in the COVID curve charts.
  13. The US should have gone metric in the 70s-80s. It makes sense, everything divided by 10. I mean 3/64", how the fk do you measure that? I'm looking at a ruler (inches) right now and it makes no sense. There's only 16 notches per inch. I have to imagine 4 more spaces in between those notches?
  14. Nice. Pop-up lights are cool. Until they stop popping up/down. I had an 80-something Firebird and the lights just stayed up permanently. Or if I had a date or wanted to look cool, I'd hand crank them up/down. I guess you could always buy a new relay, but that depends on how much money you have and what your priorities are
  15. Christ, sounds scary I'd be afraid to walk up a flight of stairs after that, much less even think about playing hockey again. I didn't really follow the whole thing, what was the reason he needed this surgery? Was it a birth defect or something he had his whole life? Or something that recently developed? ...like from all the heartache of playing for the Cup-less Rangers for so many years?
  16. As a lifelong Rangers fan, I say he should just retire now and stay true-blue...and also maybe not have a heart attack and die.
  17. I got a pair of G9035 a couple of years ago to replace my G50's, but despite the inside looking soft and cushy, the 9035 boot was much stiffer (ie: less flex) which kinda made me not like it. So I took my G50 boots and mounted them on a newer Graf cowling and put some Step Steel on them. I'm pretty happy with that setup. I've been wearing only Graf for 20 years or so. G50 boots were the best in my book. (750/Cobra were good too, the precurser for the G50) I still have the 9035 in reserve, maybe one day I'll try them again if my G50's start falling apart.
  18. Does anyone have "Cuban's" 70's pic from GSBB? That was an epic fro.
  19. Did they ever bring that technology to a jock-strap?
  20. Holy crap. I never saw/noticed that. Crazy. The stick-blade curve is the wrong way then, it's like shooting back-handed. I loved his TPS gear back in the day
  21. 2020 only goes sideways.... ...and what's this "narrative" about Turco "shooting right"? A quick "fact check" has "debunked" your "conspiracy theory"...
  22. I always understood what "Regular" and "Full Right" meant in goalie terms. But now that I think about it, why not just "Left" and "Right" like players? Makes more sense. Obviously you are going to shoot/catch on the same side (ie: right or left). Actually, I'll bet that in the next 5 years it gets changed. Not because it makes sense tho. But because in the touchy-feely world we now live in, "Regular" probably makes the "Full Right" people feel bad because it implies they are "irregular". Some loony-tune Liberal will probably read this post, call Soros, set up some some goalie "Human Rights" NGO, flood the NHL and goalie mfgrs with emails and calls demanding change against systemic degradation of the Full-Right community, the media will pick up on it, and people in black clothes and masks will start smashing and looting at Goalie Monkey, Vaughn and other goalie resources. Once all the goalie gear has been burned and looted, there will be no gear left for anyone, and since everyone knows goalies can't play in last years outdated goalie gear, we won't be able to play and will have to just sit home and cancel the season. Great, thanks alot you Full Right weirdos, now you ruined it for everyone.
  23. Like what? An air pump so you can inflate it to your liking? I do give CCM credit for having the balls to this pad an "Eflex"
  24. I don't know about you, but I'm never playing with a full deck of cards ...and got a few aces up my sleeve.
