    Goalie Camps

My 17 year old son went to the Pro Goalie Camp in Zuchwil (Switzerland) last year, run by David Aebischer and Martin Gerber. It cost about $700 and was 1 ice time Friday, two on Saturday and 2 on Sunday, with other activities in between. My son enjoyed it and learned alot, but drills and pace was pretty intense. He was actually the only non-Pro goalie there, LOL. We thought the "Pro" Camp was just a sales-pitch thing or something to make it sound cool, but he soon discovered he was training next to goalies that he recognized from TV. Not sure how my son got in there, LOL. Well, actually, he was at a different goalie training with Gerber the week before, and Gerber told him there was some free spots in the camp, and my son was heading for U18 national team try out (Estonia) so we figured to give it a shot. Was a good experience for sure. The first pic below is Gerber shooting at Punnenovs, with Aebsicher screening him. Punnenovs was definitely the best goalie there, vry hard working but relaxed at the same time. It was interesting to compare my son doing the same drills before/after him, you can really learn alot that way.
  2. The huge piece of velcro on the calf wrap looks like a good idea, but I don't like that they don't give an option to wrap the knee-cradle to the opposite side (ie: you have to connect the knee cradle to the calf-wrap). I know that's the trend, but still, wouldn't hurt to give the option...

    Warrior G5

Where? On a side note, I tried on a WALL W10 (Large) in a shop again yesterday, and that is the best feeling/fitting mask I ever put on my head. I think after about 20 years with ReidiC I might jump ship and go to WALL.
  4. That's so stupid and ugly.... the NHL will for sure take it
  5. A few better names off the top of my head: -Seattle Baristas -Seattle Snowflakes -Seattle Riot -Seattle Depression
  6. The first comment in the review was "very bulky", which is kinda strange to me. I have the original RGT and what I love most about it, is that it is very light and mobile, with great movement in the arms (ie: I can drink my water bottle no problems). "Bulky" is not the word that comes to my mind with this CA. Can anyone who has tried both units give a comment? Was there any drastic changes between the original and version 2? Or was it just small incremental upgrades? It's all a matter of opinion of course, one persons "bulky" is anothers "mobile"
  7. My son got his first shutout playing Juniors (U20)
  8. ...good luck to the poor guy who has to sit behind her during the game, LOL
  9. ...just gotta find some "mud-flaps" or "puck-foils" down by your toe-ties and you'll be complete
  10. What legs pads are you wearing in the two middle pictures, where you have the St.Louis and Canucks jerseys?
  11. That's cool you guys get shot stats, it helps put the GAA in perspective. One of my son subbing in a game for me (probably played better than me )
  12. ...it's called "thinning the herd"
  13. Hmm, nah you can get whatever you want here, especially since this was a Pro camp.. I think my son was one of the only non-pro's there, not sure how he got in, LOL. But generally speaking, I probably see Vaughn, Bauer and CCM as most common here, with Brian's and Warrior as the outliers. ...but yea, you're right, looking at the post-training stretch, it does look like Vaughn was heavily rep'd at this particular camp. ...altho funny how my son and 3 other CCM guys are together on the left side in their own little CCM tribe, LOL
  14. I'm 48 and still playing 4th League (Bätterkinden) ...my son play with Brandis Juniors Top (U20-A). Were in Zuchwil for a few days this summer for a goalie camp.
  15. I knew a guy who's last name was Swallow, and he went into the Navy, so for the next 4 years he was "Seaman Swallow". I don't know how anyone kept a straight face. I mean, he could have joined any other branch, did he not think that all the way thru? Go Air Force.
  16. Man, I'm jealous of all you guys who have year-round ice ...here in Switzerland they melt 90% of the ice rinks from April-Aug ...oh yea, nice gear set-ups and all that...
  17. I think GM has the USA Wall masks? I'd only get the ones made in Finland.
  18. Some from my son's game today...(the last shot he got with his blocker )
  19. Any video? Curious of the level there. When I was a kid I played a year at Arrowhead Ice Rink in Kings Park. I searched it, but it seems it doesn't exist any more. Was it replaced by Superior ice rink? I found it on Google Maps. Love the pic there. Half the cars or pickups, LOL. Except for that stretch limo on the far left....that dude must be rockin a tinted visor and hot pink laces
