  1. It's also better than the SFS special editions we get north of the border where they will stiffen up the pad more. That goaliesplus spec sounds amazing but with shipping and conversion to Canada it's a non-starter for us north of the border.
  2. It does a bit over time. Yes. I had this issue trying a pair in store, but I now own a used pair (from the OP himself no less) and I haven't had any issues.
  3. I personally would not look too hard at the V10s if you're looking for the softest pad ever. It's a fair bit stiffer from the knee up from it's predecessors, and while thinned out still felt "chunkier" than the competition. V9s would be a good option to look into though if you want that traditional Vaughn feel and play.
  4. Time to revive this old post. 1st - Posts from Hockey Shop of Horrors here, highly reccomend his work. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0yPFVnY3dtFxxz7rjFAFD3h7LJ5NrMhjd5qsFgw8jmSep2jUQm2grk1EDagmKEcrjl&id=100073726163483&device_id=6db6dfe6-194f-4e3e-abde-2ca30a9338ee Detailed desciption - got a McKenney body from a buddy here - and decided to add the warrior parts i loved. Ended up hating the body as it was too large for me still Traded the body away for some black steel for my skates that are still waiting to be profiled and sharpened. The arms? Oh my goodness they are fantastic - very heavy, but very beefy. These are the CCM AB500 arms i've had on there forever with some McKenney floaters, and all of the beef ups as described in the link above. 2nd - So - keeping those arms, I had the leftover parts body, which I installed the neck and heart guard off of a Vaughn vision. Can't give this warrior body up - i'm at the point where I keep getting bruised up in this unit. Used it like this for the last 6 months or so. Added extra shoulder caps and a row of belly blocks to beef up this unit. 3) Scored a used CCM Pro Medium off FB Marketplace for $100 CAD. Not bad, not great, not terrible. CCM Premier arms, wow they are stiff. Now I am reminded why my original arms (which are CCM) have lost their original elbow floaters. Anyways, easy fix - throw my modded to hell and back arms on. Now I do want to do a few things - these arms are actually a wee bit long on me still - so i'd like to shorten the arms and change the attachment style to what most modern c/a with removable arms use (velcro strap) and the white colour on the mckenney floaters are too ... stand out there. Any suggestions on dyes, or paints? Thinking of finding some fabric paint to black it out ... thoughts? EDIT: If i hate how huge these CCM floaters present themselves, then you bet you'll see the return of the Warrior shoulder floaters.
  5. Just got to take a peek at them here at a local shop. It has the thinned out profile matching the X5 pro and Hyp2rlite. On both the black and white pads, the backing is mostly non-white, which is good to avoid those post stains, amongst others. Knee block - stabiliflex, very stable with a bit of give. Didn't notice any major difference than on higher tiers. Calf - This is quite flexy vs even the X5 Pro that also does not have the brackets. You also won't get a giant calf pillow like the others. Pretty much the same leg channel and knee wing design as on the original GSX. OG Tune Fit here with attachment to the outside of the wrap, unlike on higher tiers where it's attached inside the leg channel a la the Professor strap. All nylon affair here. Boot - stiffer than X5 Pro/HL2. Relatively soft, close to that of M5/Mach. As with my GSX it'll likely soften up a bit over time, but will never be quite as soft as the X5 Pro/HL2. Same boot angle as the supreme, so not flat. EDIT: Oh yes, sliding material is Cortech, and face of the pad is likely some form of PU.
  6. Potential review from @Lemieux coming up. Also to show off stuff that's actually ours... Side by side Protechsports, mine on the left.
  7. Okay, i've been summoned so I'll chime in here. I'll start with my GSX review - lots of nylon used throughout the pad - almost everything aside from the sliding surface and the face of the pad, it's all nylon. Pro: generally lighter weight, better rotation in the leg channel. Con: Not as nice feeling as fancier materials such as nash. Definitely less durable. The knee block is surprisingly stiff for just being laced in. The material itself in the block isn't high grade and will likely wear down in due time from repeated impacts. This pad slides nicer than the G3's did for me - and the G3's to GT2's don't have any huge step up in sliding IIRC. @ZeroGravitas is right - the additions of Stabiliflex + CORTech to the calf is HUGE at this price point. I'm willing to say if you value overall performance over durability / overall life of the pad then absolutely the GSX2 will be the winner. For overall feel, I would veer away from the gloves. Did not impress me. I'm biased though - Warrior c/a since 2014, G3 gloves since 2017. Protective, replaceable liners are amazing at keeping them feeling "new" time after time.
  8. @TheGoalNet himself has. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm6y-x8OX2n/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  9. Yeah, this seems to be a steal. I am biased and love my GSX (coming from G3s) and I'm shocked by the value it provides.
  10. Halfway into my third season with el cheapo Bauer GSX, still holding up like a champ. Got my hands on a decal kit to freshen it up. No I won't clean my puck marks. Pleasantly surprised they have lasted this long despite being such a low cost pad with lots of nylon instead of "better" materials. Seal and slide well still for standard jenpro. Got my G3 Sr catcher/blocker back in 2016, aside from changing the blocker liner (G5 liner fits) back in spring. (Had the matching pads up until summer 2021 but wanted to downsize and I've been very happy with the Bauer pads) Everything has been going strong, despite playing 2-3x a week on average over that timeframe.
  11. Noticed Quick's set here as quick slide here on the inside... Wonder how that'll his sliding.
  12. TF7 goalie skates are 100% new. Some stores are just getting them now. I'm waiting for certain retailers to get stock in so I can buy. Price point is at $500 CAD.
  13. Large bit that hasn't been discussed is that Warrior has only really been prevalent in the last few years. That traction has yet to have carried up from youth goalies wearing it - many goalies will stick to what's familiar especially is they have success and comfort with what they're used to - CCM, Bauer, Vaughn.
  14. That combo is what dreams are made of.
  15. League had a photographer out last night. They got to watch me on the worst game i've played ... in a long time. (something something 3rd vaccination kicking my butt something something)(i drank and ate a bit the prior two days and felt 230948320 lbs heavier)(also why is my stick in my thighrise)
  16. To everyone talking shade on the GSX, I've owned a pair since July and i'm on the ice about 2-3x a week. In comparison to a 2X Pro pad, they slide nearly as well, and my 2 main gripes with them so far are the following: 1. The yellowing nylon (not an issue if you buy the coloured versions with not white nylon) 2. Only seeming wear I see is with the toe bridge. Otherwise they're holding up decently well so far and I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend the leg pads. Glove and blocker I have no idea, still rocking my Ritual G3's which you'll have to pry off my cold dead hands. They're quite a flexible pad overall, compared to other Bauer lines, but do seal up quite well in the butterfly.
  17. Is this for any specific 3M tape - I'm assuming we may want to look at PTFE too? I know on the PC gaming side of things, many newer mice are using PTFE mouse skates vs the old nylon ones, as they side much better on mouse pads. Also adding in a joke - hooray with this mod you've now successfully achieved what the Ritual G6 is.
  18. Never heard of it till now. Would help if they had pics of any kind. Even their instagram has nothing.
  19. If I had to guess those will be the mainstream offering (Pro/Elite/GSX), which is the inference I get from the Bauer University training. The Konekt might be a bit more of a niche product that they may not expect to get a lot of uptake due to how "radically" different it is, so they don't necessarily want to rely on it as their flagship skate offering.
  20. Typically every 3-5 years. But now that I have 2 mortgages (3rd on the way, i'm a slum lord, what can I say), probably just use whatever I have till each piece falls apart and replace/repair as needed. And I play 3-5x a week... sooooo yeah.
  21. Got to see these live tonight, along with Dreidger's. Was weird staring at all those buckles.
  22. Looks like no 4 series from TRUE? I believe MAF was also in a 20 series, and Smith is L4.1 --> L20.2 in the logos. Still appears to be closer to a 4 series since it's got the rounded inner gusset.
  23. I still don't get the hate for Grubis set. It looks fine.
  24. I'll second that - in the Prairies, and it's pretty much mostly CCM/Vaughn, with some Bauer sprinked in.
