New Bauer Vertexx LS 5G Carbon Blades

Recommended Posts

I’m pumped to try out these brand new Bauer Vertexx LS 5G Carbon Blades. Thanks to the guys at Dukes Sports for the recommendation. I expect to get these on the ice next week. I’m told they hold their edge longer, look really cool and you can’t use a stone on them.

Interested to hear how they are. I’ve got about 20 skates in on my Vapors with the LS3G blades and I’m not impressed with the steel. The rest of the boot is awesome though!

I’ve had them since November; big fan

Make sure to tell the sharpening guy not to stone them! That’s the only issue I’ve had

I find with the 3G blades I get some skipping when I shuffle and I don’t find the glide in a T-push isn’t all that great. I’ve been debating between Tydan and the LS5G. Any other advice or recommendations?

Step steel and per bunnyman you can get a 4mm fat blade for the Bauer skates as well!

Do these blades come with the skates when you purchase them or aftermarket from Bauer?

LS5G comes with the 2S pro skate stock.  Any other boots will need you to purchase the steel separately.

Yes, the 3G came stock with the skate, disappointing compared to the rest of the skate.

Wondering what anybody knows about the Bauer custom skate program. I was going to get True Two-Pieces as my feet are are a full size different, but after hearing lots of other people's durability issues, I'm now looking into Custom 2x Pro's now. there isn't much info on Bauer's custom goalie skates but I'm just interested to hear what other have to say about it.

I'm getting a pair of True Two-Piece skates and I'm not sure whether to go with the normal Step Holder with Step Steel or a Vertexx Holder with LS 5G blades. I've been in Bauer x900's for 3 years now and I feel like the Vertexx holder will give me more familiarity. However, the guy who I'm ordering through told me that the Step Steel blades are such higher quality that most customers opt for that instead of the Vertexx. I'd love to hear others experiences with the Step holder and blades or the Vertexx holder and LS 5G blades.

I'm in the market for new skates and I'm interested in the True two-piece and Bauer 2xPro's. I've been leaning True as my left foot is about a full size bigger then my right and trying to get skates that fit and feel comfortable on both feet has always been an issue. That would probably be solved with True's, but I've heard lots of durability issues with them. I've seen a lot of conflicting thoughts on them. Next year I'm playing high level U15 and I'll be skating 6+ times a week when the season starts (hopefully) so they will take a beating. I've always worn Bauer skates so I'm a bit hesitant to change. I've never had any huge issues with Bauer skates besides some ankle pain and an awkward fit. The tech on the 2xPro's looks pretty sick and seems like a great skate I'm just thinking the custom boot from True is more up my alley. If I go with True, I was thinking I'd go with the Vertex holder as it would give me some familiarity to a Bauer skate.
If anyone can tell me about their experience with True's or 2xPro's I'd highly appreciate it. Also if you had True's please touch on the durability and the holders.
