  1. Realistically, I don’t think anyone either inside the hockey world or outside the hockey world wants to hear goalie’s complaints about anything. The only complaint I can see being fair is the danger to the goalie’s head and eyes. The puck hitting the head isn’t the problem, that can happen from any shot. It’s more about the stick slamming against the head or the stick blade going into the eye openings. That has to be the main topic presented if this is to be banned. As far as defending against it, it’s just another form of attack that a goalie needs to be aware of and would need to adapt to.
  2. This thread has the distinctive aroma of, “Get off my lawn!”
  3. Check out “VINTAGE GOALIE EQUIPMENT” group on Facebook. They buy and sell older stuff on there.
  4. There are curling stones behind the glass on one end of the rink. Don’t know how much curling happens there, though. There is a curling facility a few miles north of the campus. Just drove by it a few times, never been inside. Good to hear he’s still making equipment. How’s his communication? Wasn’t the best in that department back when I dealt with him. I definitely use my sticks until they are fully dead. Right now they are mostly dead. They don’t have great whip for shooting anymore.
  5. Went out to a stick and puck today with the girlfriend at Bowling Green State University on their mini-rink. Since it was on a Monday at noon we were the only ones there, which we preferred. Broke out my old bucky set a small manufacturer Jeff Salvi out of Haverhill, MA made for me back in 2007. Always used SnoSeal on this set and it kept it in great condition. Had a good time.
  6. My suggestions from earlier in the thread are still appropriate. I would stress that you won’t have to do anything different from your indoor hockey so long as the “feels like” temperature stays above 15-20* F. Be aware of the wind, that’s what is going to be a problem for you, probably when the knit hat and gloves will come into play. I highly recommend the toe warmers with the adhesive.
  7. True @bunnyman666 And I think the set he used in the video would work better for someone who plays a traditional stand up method better than modern pads. The width especially at the boot break helps take up more room while standing. I also think he would have gotten better use of them with different technique. We have grown accustomed to pushing our ankles toward the ice in a modern pro-fly butterfly. Doing that in these pads causes full rotation which these pads aren’t designed for.
  8. Not sure if I should put this here. I play in the summer league at Bowling Green State University. They have all the team photos through the years lining the hallway. I love the lineup of gear from this particular year pictured.
  9. I was just trying to update my profile and was unable to. The ad bar on the bottom of the screen was blocking the save button. Couldn’t get ad bar to go away even when reporting ad to google. I view this site on my phone. iPhone 7S Plus. Occasionally ad traffic is problematic with viewing on a phone.
  10. Great news. Hope to see more pics of you playing and your gear. Are you still wearing the John Brown gear?
  11. Am I the only one getting periodically redirected away to this site pictured in my screenshot? It happens a lot now. A while back it was to some Amazon gift card site. Only happens from thegoalnet, no other site I visit. I’m on an iPhone 7plus using safari.
  12. This is our girl, Sultan. She’s the boss. We let her do whatever she wants as long as we can give her 1000 kisses.
  13. Seriously, me too. But I was out and about today and decided to join in the fun. 2018 Honda CR-V
  14. Well the team I play goal on lost in the finals. However the lower division team I play defense on won the championship tonight. I’m the second from the left standing. Actually the four defense are all standing starting from the left. Good group of guys. As you can probably guess, the league gave us wool hats. They have the league logo on it. And the hardware, of course.
  15. I have this one. Love the opening, side pocket, padding on the carry handles and venting grommets. The handles seem long and the bag hangs very low making it awkward to carry. Still trying to figure out the best way to orient my body when I carry it.
  16. A couple pics from a few weeks ago at a scrimmage during a skills clinic. Don’t remember these plays or how they ended.
  17. FYI, based on the pricing I posted on the last page which I got off a Brown Facebook comment thread, the base model for a 2200 with no add-ons would be $739.95 Canadian which as of now is $568.72 USD. So that’s not too bad.
  18. I follow John Brown Equipment on Facebook. They’re often posting pictures of units being sent off to Russia to be used in the KHL.
