  1. On another note, why are so many teams without their starter or back up? Why are so many goalies injured? Are coaches overplaying them? At least four teams missing one of their regular starting goalies. Off the top of my head, Saros for Nashville, Mrazek for Toronto, Anderson for Carolina and Jarry for Pittsburgh. Dafuq?
  2. I wouldn’t necessarily put that in the same category as the Mike Smith mistake. This is more like, nothing is going our way tonight. Whereas Mike Smith created the situation himself.
  3. Oh, did he? I didn’t see any of that game. Pundits and fans love hitting the panic button early. Everyone forgets the bumps on the way to the championship.
  4. I feel for the guy. Granted, he made a terrible play to cause the turnover for the winning goal, but otherwise he played good. Nurse deflected the third goal past him. He’s just awkward with the way he plays, so people don’t like him. Also, he’s not a rookie. So you knew what you were getting when you signed him. It’s unrealistic to expect him to suddenly be Vasilevsky. GMs do that crap all the time.
  5. We won the championship again last Sunday. The final was a highly contentious, penalty-filled, defensive battle. In the semifinal we were outplayed early, finally scoring late to tie and then took the lead for good. Also, my girlfriend’s team won her division’s championship, too. She plays defense. Happy household. Summer session starts this Sunday already. The team I’m on is a good group of guys. Likely will have a pool party at the captain’s house in a month or so. P.S. I’m hiding my hairline with my mask positioning.
  6. It’s the curse of that douchebag Mario Tremblay.
  7. That franchise has been mismanaged for a while. All too often these owners use these teams as a piece in a larger real estate deal that is their pet project. I think that’s how this franchise ended up in Glendale. And it was a disaster. Would have been interesting to see if this franchise would have had financial success in a building built in Phoenix or at least near it. I don’t understand the vetting process for owners, but it needs to improve.
  8. I couldn’t watch that game, I dislike both teams. I’m an Islander’s fan so I couldn’t root for the Rangers. I’m from New York, so I’m legally obligated to hate all the Philadelphia sports franchises, so I couldn’t root for the Flyers. Perhaps, those two teams have a lot of haters, which is why no one was watching relatively speaking. Then again I play hockey, yet rarely watch it. Maybe when the playoffs start.
  9. Honestly, the one time 15 years ago I was scored on with the lacrosse move, I WAS on my feet. It’s more about the player moving from one side of the net to the other and executing the move quickly before the goalie can get all the way over. It’s a good reminder to turn and look at the attacker as you’re about to go to the other post. At worst, if you can’t get all the way over, you can lead with a hand and block it away.
  10. It’s weird seeing that color scheme and the goalie is NOT in Vaughn.
  11. Yea, beer league players aren’t learning $hit. They are who they are. Only way to improve is by changing personnel.
  12. @Wonder35 always brings it with the photos.
  13. They streamlined the logo for weight-savings.
  14. I like the subtle use of color to accent the black.
  15. Well, you certainly built character, that’s for sure.
  16. Everybody using weeks to describe how long there wait is. Makes me think about parents telling me how old their small child is in weeks. Usually, I don’t have a clue what it translates to in months off the top of my head.
  17. I feel like this is the most practical way to do things. Consider professional sports have only been a thing for 150 years or so. Imagine if we still have professional sports in two to three hundred years (If humanity still exists by then provided we don’t blow ourselves up ). We will start running out of numbers for players to use if we retire them. Of course, we could start using triple digits or Roman numerals. Or this, “Starting at center, number 2b, John Anderson.”
  18. I agree. And we no longer have to suffer through Pierre Maguire and Mike Milbury. Also, Liam is good because he’s a wise ass from Long Island, so he can give and take a needling. He’s been good on NBCSN’s coverage of the NHL, Premier league and Olympics in the past. Useless tidbit of the day: Liam McHugh was an intern at Newsday (Newspaper based on Long Island, NY) and my girlfriend was his boss.

    Pad breaks

I feel like the goal against Lehner was more about not having any weight on the pads as the puck arrived. He went down a half-second early and tried to shift laterally to regain his angle, thus lifting his weight off of the left pad. I don’t think this puck powered through the thigh-rise so much as it went under it because it was off the ice. Remember a puck is only an inch tall so not much space is required.
  20. I thought it would be interesting and educational to read through this thread. I'm more confused than ever.
  21. Well, the Canucks are currently outshooting the Kraken 39-17 midway through the third period. I think it’s more that the Kraken stink as a team than their goalies are bad. Vegas success as an expansion team was an anomaly.
  22. Shop for previous years models at discounts.
  23. Decades ago hockey players played defense and were actually close to the opponent so any such maneuvers were defeated before they could be effective. Watch any goal highlights from today and you may see all five players near their goal, yet miraculously they are not covering anyone. Instead they cover space and puckwatch.
  24. You said in the video that you tried many different knee pad designs. I’m surprised you never tried PAW knee pads. Sara Marschand builds them custom measured to you. Gel added to the landing area is an option. Way cheaper than these featured here.
