I'm bored, so here goes...

Which is the most iconic goalie per team in their history, and I don't necessarily mean stats or numbers, just that one guy that resonates his team.

*Don't get all bent out of shape if you disagree or I happen to not mention one or just ran a blank. It's supposed to be fun! It's just hockey...and life...and all that the universe has to offer :D

My pics:

Miller for Anaheim is wild. It should Obviously be Jonas Hiller. That Giguere guy was trash Hiller was so much better. He is also top 5 all time in playoff save percentage which really means he is the greatest goalie in NHL history. He also played for the Flames so that means he is also their most iconic goalie ever. Goat!!!!

Jokes aside I would pick Giguere, Hiller, or Gibson before Miller for the ducks. Vegas is still probably Fleury but in a few years I think it could be Thompson. I just don’t see Hill being there long term for some reason. Columbus has got to be Bob. Also Parent has got to be in there for Philly!

Great idea, this will be fun, lets go:

Anaheim - Hiller of course, but it is definitely J. S. Giguere

Arizona - Mike Smith

Buffalo - "Hasheck" .. I know what you did here 😄.

Ottawa - Craig Anderson

Toronto - Cujo, iconic as goalie can be

Boston - Tim Thomas.. just for his gear changes

Chicago - Crawford

Colorado - Roy more than Gigi

Los Angeles - I don´t care

Calgary - Hiller of course, but it is Kipper

Minnesota - Backström

Florida - Luongo or Beezer? Luongo

Carolina - Ward

Rangers - Lundqvist or Richter? Lundqvist

Washington - Kölzig or Holtby.. can´t say one over another

Columbus - BOB!

Winipeg - Hellebuyck

San Jose - Nabokov

St. Louis, Seattle - I don´t know, do they have any?

Vegas - MAF

Vancouver - McLean

easy ones:

Montreal - Roy, Roy and Roy

Detroit - So Good Osgood

Edmonton - Fuhr..granted

Pittsburgh - MAF

Islanders - Billy Smith, you can´t say any other without fear

New Jersey - Brodeur.. is there any other goalie in NJD or he still plays for them?

Philadelphia - Hextall

Dallas - Turco

Nashville - Rinne

Very cool topic!

Chicago: Tony, not Phil, Esposito....sorry @RichMan

Age alert: Canucks: King Richard Brodeur

                  Flyers: Bernie Parent

                  Bruins: Gerry Cheevers

                  Kings: Rogie Vachon/our @Wonder35

Where do we put Terry Sawchuk, Glenn Hall, and Jacques Plante?

Lots of great goalies mentioned in this thread; too many to count.

Hmmm....didn't I know Phil Esposito was a goalie. I heard his brother was though.

Crazy that Tony has passed away. Been like three years now. He looked so old at the end of his career. I mean, he was 40 then. I don't think many goalies are in the NHL now above 30.

I left Hutchinson (33) Campbell (32), Copely (32) Hellberg (32), and Domingue (31) off the list because they've barely played any games. All the guys aboce have at least 10 starts minus Anderson. But he's been out due to injury, not play.

All good arguments but I was focusing on other aspects aside from numbers. There are many goalies that have come and gone in the show that weren't gods but certainly left a mark on our minds and in our hearts ;)

Craig Anderson, very high merits indeed.

Yes, many great ones but I was focusing on who's face most represents the team when mentioned, ie Montreal = Roy, etc

Dallas is tough. Turco was a stud there. Eddie had a great run. But for me - because of my age - Andy Moog is it. Only because he was their first goalie of name there. Plus his gear was SICK!!!

Good work. Nice list too.

Maybe I should have said - not many older than 34. But it seems that the late 20s/ early 30s guys are the most prevalent. As with all pro sports!

Pretty sure in the post-lockout era NHL ('06 on) goalies have always been that later twenties to early thirties for hitting their stride.

Some of the biggest names in the league are all within that parameter:
Georgiev - 27
Saros - 28
Demko - 28
Sorokin - 28
Shesterkin - 28
Vasilevksy -29

Though, going over that list I linked, it does look like there's a pretty even spread for age brackets for starters in the NHL.

However, Oettinger, Skinner, and Swayman are the only guys 25 and younger that have made an impact over a few seasons. There's some other good goalies getting starts in that age bracket, but the above three have been around the league for a while now that you forget they're not essentially kids.

Absolutely tragic. He was indestructible during his playing days on a team that stunk most years. Pancreatic killed him.

Even though he got old, his passion to play never left. Orval Tessier, the coach the last 2 years of TE's career, wanted to phase him out during his last season and play Bannerman. TE said screw it...called Lou Nanne, the boss of the Minnesota North Stars at the time, who had a spot laid out for him. Dollar Bill Wirtz got involved and said no. I dont think TE ever filed retirement papers.  LOL.

Alright now everyone's doing it. Since @coopaloop1234 still thought I was 13 until I posted action pictures a few months ago, I'll make this list from a 2000s kid's prospective. Keep in mind I actually follow hockey and its history so some of my answers will still be older goalies.

Ducks- Jonas Hiller (Gibson if you're a baby born after 2004) And yes really the Hiller/Quick playoff battles were great back in my day

Coyotes- Mike Smith (anger management)

Bruins- Rask (more anger management)

Sabres- Dominik Hasek (they've never had a consistent guy in my lifetime)

Flames- Mikka Kiprusoff

Hurricanes- Cam Ward

Blackhawks- Corey Crawford (carried by good teams, from a kid in Chicago)

Avalanche- Semyon Varlamov

Blue Jackets- Sergei Boobtitski

Stars- Kari Lehtinen

Red Wings- Jimmy Howard

Oilers- Fuhr (who else am I supposed to say? Viktor Fasth or Jeff Deslaurier? ASS)

Panthers- Rubber-Toe Luongo

Kings- Jonathan Extremely Fast

Wild- Niklas Backstrom

Canadiens- Carey Price

Predators- Pekka Rinne

Devils- Martin Brodeur (special shoutout to Corey Schneider when he first got to NJ)

Islanders- Billy Smith (they had 2,000 goalies before Sorokin took over)

Rangers- Henrik Lundqvist

Senators- Craig Anderson (CYA alumn)

Flyers- Ron Hextall (although Hart's going to become to most well known once he goes to prison for sexual assault lol)

Penguins- Marc-Andre Fleury

Sharks- Niemi or Jones or some other guy that was good for 2 seasons

Kraken- Philip Grubauer (6 million for more injuries than seasons played with the team)

Blues- Brian Elliot (was so underrated in the late 2000s and early 2010s)

Lightning- Ben Bishop (for my era but Khabibulin is iconic. Vasy is getting there too)

Leafs- Curtis Joseph (Holy fuck maybe if they won a playoff series once in a while we'ed remember one of their goalies. A sad Freddy Andersen or James Reimer comes to mind)

Canucks- Roberto Luongo (real stud Lu in VAN. Rubber-Toe edition was in Florida when he was stiff and lived on the ir)

Golden Knights- Oscar Dansk (hehe just kidding it's Malcom Subban. gotcha again!) Marc-Andre Fleury

Capitals- Braden Holtby (won them a cup when nobody else could so...)

Jets- Onjrei Pavelec (Hellybellybucykuk needs to play longer and have more success. when I think thrashers to jets relocation I think of Pavelec)

I'm not here to disagree with this list, but that you messed up so many of their names.

Jean-Francois Giguere? Arthur Irbe? Miika Kiprusoff? Dominik Hasek? Pekka Rinne? Connor Hellebuyck? Tony Esposito?

I think it was more playoff battles against Red Wings/Sharks. If I remember correctly Hiller - Quick is only 2014 playoffs and that souhld be forgotten - starting John Gibson in game seven, pull him too late and let the Kings go all the way to the Cup 🙄) .
