  1. You are an exception and I hope your G6 come out right for you. According to their chart, I should be in a 36" but after trying on some 34"s at a shop, I ordered me some 35" GT2s. Because I'm not wearing a boot strap, I could get away with a 34", maybe, but the 35" seems spot on and with break in at the boot in the next year or two, they shot be dialled in perfectly. I don't see why they still use overall body height as a factor. You can line up 3-4 guys at 6'2 and they might all need a different size pad based on their own FTK.
  2. Strong legs and clean technique. Other than, nothing really outperforms on bad ice.
  3. When I played some ball hockey in the gym at College, I wore work boots with large stretched out wool socks over them for sliding. Back then pads were still toe buckles and straps, so tying them to the boot wasn't an option.

    R GT/2

Question... For those of you wearing the leg pads strapped at the knee and with the Warrior knee pads, how long (if at all) did the elastics get more slack on the outside attachment guards? Getting that extra inch of room would make it so much more comfortable and better rotation too.
  5. I wish Warrior would offer a pro spec version. So much shoulder and arm bulk in all models.
  6. You need to chat with the modification dudes, guy now working for Simmons and Jake from UK and the likes. They all do tons of work on their gear to mod it for better or worse lolll.
  7. Memory foam, albeit small pieces, will be heavier and retain more water (sweat) than needed (stink factor)
  8. @bunnyman666 there's a large Heaton Firewall on Sidelineswaps. Maybe down your alley? I had a Brown for many many years and because he uses plastic, it doesn't really become cush. The Mckenney on the other hand could, talking of the 870 Pro Spec here.
  9. Glue some felt to the chest plate, that should help deaden the shots. Not too heavy and somewhat cheap.

    NHL Gear Stats

That kind of info can be picked up now and then when digging through InGoal Mag podcasts and articles but the guys seem more interested in the journey than the gear and usually leave it to their Youtube series at The Hockey Shop. Best breakdown I've ever watched was the Ben Scrivens video he did himself at the benefit he was attending/playing. I guess not all guys are that geeky about their gear.
  11. Was this for the Beer League festival?
  12. Bringing this one back to ask the following: Looking at a whatever brand/model chest pad off the rack, given that the arms for most can be quite adjustable, what really differentiates a Large from an XL? Is it the shoulder width? Is it the length of the torso? How much extra (1cm...1inch)? Keeping away from custom, and away from sewn in arms like Brown's and the general charts based on your overall height, AND if you couldn't try it on for sizing? *Just as a side note; I don't think tucked or untucked matter cause the too big or small a fit might not be better in length I feel.
  13. I can vouch for @estogoalie honesty and words. We've known each other for maybe 15 plus years from the GSBB days. We've done business and help each other out when possible. My thoughts are with you and your family bro.
  14. Scott makes good gear and has longtime experience. I drueled over his 2000 model pads from his beginnings for a long time. Never was able to save for a pair. Very curious about his newer chest pad.
  15. Found one. Please delete thread. Thanks
  16. Time to bring back the Sherwood 530
  17. You should watch my guys in Montreal, cringe material. Hammond won today in the shootout. How long will that last is to see. Not much coming in on Price, Allen is completely MIA, Montembeault is playing hurt, Primeau is a joke, and the rest, well... Can't even predict who will be in nets for next season with all that's happening.
  18. Cheap composite sticks, go to Canadian Tire. Warrior and I think Sher-Wood are the brands, one model of each, 99.99$ and 119.99$ I think.
  19. First off, I hate Coops b-fly! (simply cause mine is nowhere near that flared ) I own the Bauer 1X knee pads and they aren't bulky, it's just that the shell that looks like a forward's shoulder cap sits wide. If it were a little more contoured they would fit real great. I also have been wearing the Senior Ritual knee pads that came with my GT2s and they work better due to their surround shape. It could be the toe ties. I have the Pro Laces and the Trav Specs ones as well. The original ones are kinda short and keep the boot snug to the skate and even though it stretches, the tension is still present. For the Trav ones (vers.1), they are longer and allow for more slack and let the pad float better in the b-fly.
