Best setup I ever had?   This goes way back but...

Eagle leg pads with nylon face (not jenpro) which were a copy of Vaughn VPG3500, Eagle TB15 blocker and TT10 glove with Nash Face and Nash palm (copy of Vaughn B1050 and T1050 gloves), Tackla 6500 goal pants, custom made chest and arm pads by Miller (Are they still around? These were as good then as NHL spec today), D&R GK10 knee pads. Eddy Custom LT mask.

All quite retro, and maybe not the best looking, but totally dialed in for fit protection and mobility at the time.

Pre 1990's this was by far the best set of pads and gloves I ever wore, all leather. Rebounds died with 18 inches of me. Shots hardly ever popped out of that Trapper.

Granted, heavier than today's gear (especially late in the game) but as a stand up goaltender there wasn't much up and down, playing on my knees type of movement.

Sure, I use more modern equipment now, modern being a subjective term for me.

Absolutely adored the G4 lineup from head to toe

G4 was the set that more or less helped me have a breakout year and catch the eyes of coaches. Before G4 I had never had a pad that weighed in under 6lbs and I’d certainly never had a pad with no leather straps. It was also the year I switched to composite sticks with the V1 Pro+

I’m not really one of those people who finds something and sticks to it because there almost always seems to be something better. Looking forward to seeing what the next game changing piece of equipment is

Similar to @ThatCarGuy, my Warrior GT set was probably my favourite set I've had as it was my departure from my V4 set.

No leather straps, elastic toe ties, a glove without a wrist strap. This set up has essentially made me unable to use any other brands glove. I'm just a massive sucker for Warrior gloves, and most Warrior products.

Won't say it's the best set I've ever owned, but definitely the most influential to defining what I look for in pads.

Aside from a brief dabble in some Bauer pads that didn't work, I've been all Warrior ever since.

The next one, duh.

No in all seriousness I don't have a favorite, but there's been pieces of each set I've worn that I really loved. So I should put together a set probably....?

Old Reebok 580 was one of my first gloves, and it just worked so well. I've never been able to catch pucks as well as I could with that glove. I demo'd a 2X set for a few games, the pads just felt really natural and I played really well in them, they felt better than my G4's. Blocker I'm not too particular about but this has me thinking about getting a setup that works well for me, rather than being "loyal" to a particular line or brand.

You're pulling my heartstrings with that Rogue Vachon tribute setup.  Love that mask and those throwback Brown pads too. I had a set of those pads in college, my first real set after using a broken down set of Cooper GP95s for 10 years. They were fantastic once you broke them in. ha ha!

Had those gloves, Belfour returns, light as heck and so cool looking! I miss them. I would of matched them with my Eagle PMW1s had I kept them.

Those pants felt real snug and lacked in protection in certain spots, hence why I went the Mckenney route. Those knee pads were nice but they were too narrow for my thighs, sold them.

Best classic set-up/brand bardown!

Warrior is hard to beat. I wish the leg channel had a replaceable velcro strap as I know it will wear out eventually and since it's sewn in, that makes for an expensive refurb in the long run. I'm currently in the GT2 line btw (pads/gloves).

What I really miss and would of loved to keep if I would of been smarter were my Heaton Z pads and my H5 pro-return c/a if it were an xl instead of a large. I wanted to modernise the pads for better b-fly play but I dropped the project to get something else instead.
