  1. So obviously Toronto after ridding of Mrazek and some cap, they are targeting a goalie. Who will they get? Kuemper?
  2. Not that I'm committing to buying one, but it could be interesting to maybe have a hybrid of laces up to a point and then one of these buckles at the top.
  3. Well I will admit that did not go as I thought it would. What a wild ride.
  4. I've just placed an order with them for two masks, one for myself and one for my son (my 10 year old needs a Large! I guess 22 1/4" is a bigger head). I've emailed with a question about fit, and he took good care in answering my questions. I'm pretty excited about them and I can't wait to try it out.
  5. I hate the arms all together actually, but I do have a good pro-mod shop around. I was going to sell my Passau's which are too big, but maybe I can sacrifice it? I dunno I will have to think about that one. The arms on the Passau fits me well, and it's a tank. But it might be just easier to sell both and buy one good one. I'm torn.
  6. UPDATE With an average of 1 arm bruise per game, it looks like I may need to upgrade my chest protector. Lower-mid level it's fine, but I've been facing some higher level players lately. I will miss how light and mobile this one is.
  7. It's really hard to compare goalies as you guys must know from playing the position, there's also the fact that it's a team sport and there's a lot of puck luck that goes into it as well. Just look at Game 2, I think that was the easiest SCF shutout that I've ever seen that makes Kuemper look good on paper, but anyone who's seen the game will tell you that Tampa had nothing going that night. This is also how I like to segue into the fact that I believe that Brodeur was a good goalie, but not a great one.
  8. I’m a die hard Habs fan as well. I have a contact, no promises but let me find out, as now I want one as well.
  9. To me it felt like Vasy was letting a lot of juicy rebounds right back into the slot. And I remember the Leafs had a good game plan against him by going east-west behind the net to get him moving side to side and sitting low, then back up to the high slot to shoot.
  10. I see that you're in Gatineau, do you just need a practice jersey? I was recently given a bunch of goalie cut jerseys that range in size, and some that are too big for me. If you can drive to meet me somewhere in Ottawa, it's yours for free. Bring your chest so that you can try it on.
  11. Teams of all levels have been pulling shit like this for yeeeeaaaars. Anything to get a slight bit of edge. I remember the most creative one I remember growing up was the time the opposing team let Japanese Taiko drummers practice at a room that shared a wall with our locker, coincidentally when we were getting ready. Our ears were ringing by the time we got on the ice.
  12. This is what I've always stood by. IMO, don't let refs and coaches have access to slow-mo vids for offsides and all of this goes away. If it's too close to call in real time, it's too close to call to matter.
  13. Yes, but probably the best exercise out there, and easy on the joints. Keep at it, I've never been a good swimmer, only enough to be able to sail. But now with my youngest showing big interest I think it might be time for me to take some lessons or do a few laps while he does his lessons.
  14. So yeah I think this is what happened, I did the goalie dance in the beginning to shave down the imperfections, but it seems like it made things worse and I had trouble in the first 10min. Things eventually got better a bit. So next game basically, don't scrape the ice, swat out the water as much as possible, don't go down for shots during warmups in the crease, warm up going down near the boards.
  15. Oh I fully agree that it doesn't pass the eye test. But was it really confirmed to be oversized by Bauer? I can't find anything on that.
  16. I mean just look at last year's pic, there's some perspective magic going on, but looked def bloated from other pics Although Louis Domingue says it's the tuck vs untuck look
  17. Sorry if it's been asked before, but what adjustments do you guys do, if at all for really really soft ice? Not sure if I need to go deeper in my hollow, or not. I've been blessed until now playing at really decent rinks in the summer as well, but recently, I've come across a few in my area that seem to have a lot of water in the crease in the beginning, and ice that's a lot softer than I'm used to. I've tried clearing the water with my stick a bit, but scraping the surface to clean it with my blades in the beginning seems to make it worse. If my blades are freshly sharpened it's more manageable, but often times when I try to push (especially in the beginning), I'm just scraping the ice and not going anywhere. Or is it more that my pads that are getting stuck?
  18. I've also seen for player sticks the generic "TEAM" sticks for CCM Pro-Stocks generally aimed towards top tier junior/youth teams. Basically getting them to like your brand early.

Forgive my ignorance as I've never really had a calf pillow, and I understand the better/faster seal. But in terms of comfort, would it not add more stress to the knee after a certain point? I would think that you would want your knees to be at a higher or at least at the same height as your calf.
  20. Those are the exact two (but the SR level, plus the 3X) that I've been looking at
  21. Like I'm sure there's more to it, but it looks real bad from my layman's eyes.
  22. I've sort of pulled the trigger just now, and let my local hockey store know that as soon as the senior versions become available again to order me a full set. He feels that it will be at least a month or so. Bauer stuff, he will prob get 80% of what he needs next month.
  23. “when you don't create things, you become defined by your tastes rather than ability. your tastes only narrow & exclude people. so create.”― Why The Lucky Stiff Anything and everything comes from somewhere, and it's not where you take it from but where you take it to. Like the professor strap is literally a just a strap my dude. Application is what makes it so popular.
  24. This is extremely helpful insight to me right now as I'm shopping for a pad, and I want stiffer than my current set, but I'm hesitant about how stiff might be too stiff. Main concerns were about my not-super-wide butterfly, but in my games most danger moments happen in movement side to side and I think in that aspect a stiffer upper core would help.
  25. Yeah the stiffness question was half-personal. I'm in the same boat where I'm in the market for a new pad (SR level though). I didn't want to hijack your thread. I'm currently in a SubZero, I've borrowed and used a G4 a few times and I like it way way more (mainly lightness). And so I was thinking about a G6, but maybe it might be too stiff? Also looking at a 3X as I hear that might be softer.
