It was the preset. Other than the numbers the other graphics present were extremely pixelated. Having done print work before, maybe I notice things more than others. But even the outline cuts on the design were poor and not even, causing a white outline to show on the black design. But in the end, it was 30~40 bucks and a fun surprise for my kid before a tournament.

I just tried Custom Cages Decal kit, and I will say that I am extremely disappointed. It was fairly cheap sure, but the print quality is sub-par, and the decal cutout was very poor causing white edges to appear on the black design. The vinyl was also hard to work with even using a blow dryer, even on the lowest heat setting it shrivelled up. I will definitely send it off to a pro next time around.

A buddy of mine who is about your height uses a G4 Warrior SR sized glove and blocker, and bought Intermediate inserts to put in them. He seems to do well enough.

Ok so a few notes. I've tried both `VViViD 3M Clear Paint Protection Vinyl Film` and the `UHMW plastic` on my kid's pads 3M - Make sure you clean the surface really well. When I cleaned using rubbing alcohol/water mix it adhered really well, and stayed on better. Waiting a day after application helped as well. Heat gun made it worse (for me) - Almost too much slide, he said that he was sometimes hard to stay balanced on his knees when shifting weight. - There was rubbing/catching on itself, and he was afraid that it would pull itself apart during a game (it came apart for me during a scramble, one ended up sticking to the other) - Better slide than the UHMW and took abuse quite a bit better. It was also easier to cut and work with and adjust to fit the pads. - Came off easy, one hand without issue. UHMW - Felt like it would stay on much better as you use a heat gun to activate the glue. Harder to cut precise shapes as it's very slippery on the scissors. - Less slide than the 3M, but more predictable as my kid describes it, he could still feel that it was there. - No rubbing on itself between the pads - When applying, the material doesn't like to curve, so you should cut well before the edges, next time I would try a smaller area as the edges took a beating, which made it eventually unusable. - Took a bit of effort to take off, no damage underneath removing it after a few games.

Will you be using a resin print? I fear that a regular extrude might be fragile to impacts

Extremely dangerous play by Binnington to Zucker. I thought the back of his head collided hard with the boards enough to warrant a concussion test/look. If he wants to drop gloves with another player that's fair, but he's acting tough behind the unwritten rule about not touching goalies.

In all honesty, the best thing that will help in all areas would be to lose some gut. With that out of the way, could you maybe loosen up some straps up top to make it bounce less? What I would also try to do is add sections of 3D0 or materials with similar properties like adiprene on the outside of the chest where any puck would deaden against your chest and drops down in front of you.

Yeah I think the main reason is that I have a square jaw/rounder face and the chin sling put a lot of pressure on the side of my chin (mainly on two pressure spots), and I couldn't adjust anything to alleviate the pressure. Whereas the chin cup that I have spreads out the pressure on a wider surface, and I could adjust the length to perfect eh fit.

Passau Pro-pack chestie. I loved the tank protection it offered but I had such a hard time moving from the bulk (weight was fine), and try as I might my mask kept on getting snagged just enough on the wings. Maybe it was too big for me, it was a custom Large made for someone else that I got 2nd hand.

It might be an height ego thing, but I see way too many goalies in pads that are too big for them. Some certainly make it work, but most have some type of issues with their movements. I'm not amazing by any means so maybe I'm wrong on this, but I feel that a pad that's a bit small is much easier to handle than pads that are a little too big. You'll make more saves through movements rather than the 1" extra size of your pads (I guess it's technically 2"). All that to say: I think it may be hard to believe that you need "short" pads, but it's probably the right size.

Back to the topic, I'm so in love with my 3X that I'm quite looking forward to the Hyperlight 2. I wonder how the 2nd tier will be like. Depending on my budget at the time, I might spring for a top pair. It would be cool if they did have a +2 option this time around.

I've not tried it yet, but I was doing a bit of digging about UHMW tape and came across this old post about using the tape for Inline. I bought some from wrapmypads and I also spoke to them about wearing them on ice "Typically guys don't like to use the slick sheet on ice as it will cause too much slide." https://wrapmypads.com/collections/all/products/inline-slick-sheet As soon as my kid has a proper downtime to experiment on the ice, I might try it out on his pads for him. I probably won't put it everywhere like for inline, but maybe just the knees? The sheet itself is slick and reminds me of Delrin plastic that I used to work with.

The Kova one looks super clean and nice, but I wonder how much it will end up being once customs and shippings accounted for. EDIT: 13$ bucks... huh not that bad
