  1. Funny, with all the mods involved I expected to see a blocker in the end lolll You have much patience and courage.
  2. Brand new never used. Turns out they don't fit my size 9 Baurr x700 skates. They say senior 6-9. Too tight for mine, couldn't make them fit. Asking 25$ CAD plus shipping. I'm in Gatineau Quebec Canada
  3. Brand new unused squeaky clean off of my 9000 pads. They're basically the now senior 900 model. This is a minimalist knee pad. Asking 50$ CAD. Prefer e-transfer. Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
  4. As I've been reading on the subject of knee pads lately, and trying on different brands and models, I came to realize that not all knee pads and goalie pads are compatible. This especially applies to the newer more bulky knee pads of the past decade (Warrior, CCM, Brian's) and with the new methods of strapping or in some cases the absence of on newer goalie pads. Just this weekend I was able to try on some Warrior 2X Pro+ knee pads with my Bauer 9000 pads. I purposely strapped up the knee lock, loosely, to see how it would work out. As expected, the knee pads took a lot of room in the cradle which in turn interfered with the pad's ability to square back to front facing after coming out of my butterfly. I have to admit though that my 5 whole was pleasantly sealed, even with my narrow butterfly. My current knee pads being used are the Bauer 1X Vapors. The knee cap, although a little bit space hungry, doesn't compare much in size to the Warriors. The Vapors fit well in the cradle and haven't given me any issues other than the occasional inner thigh bruise (good sized thighs I have). In the past, I have worn Brown knee pads which are fairly minimalist but still protective, and I've also sported in the past some ReasonY specials and some Luongo model knee guards (PAW makes a nice copy) and some D&R KPs and also Some Coopers of which the model name escapes me. For the most part I've always had goalie pads with regular sized knee cradles. The only ever open knee cradle I've used was from an old Vaughn Velocity in which I cut out the knee lock altogether and only used the leather knee strap to keep everything close and working, and that it did. With what is out right now, you can see how the top pro knee pads are much bulkier and given how the trend for wider knee cradles will permit such knee pads to work in conjunction. What conclusions have you come up with that you can testify as to say "this brand/model of knee pad works...or doesn't work with this brand/model goalie pad"?
  5. Marc Denis even mentioned possibly his knee or groin again but could not pin point exactly if and when that could of been the case. At quick glance of that pic, Simmons 993/994 in weave came straight to mind.
  6. How can a pad so thin still be protective? Amazing!
  7. Any users of the Brian's Optik senior knee pads/guards?
  8. As long as the companies still have their graphic dies in stock, anything is possible. The only issues I can see is if the older graphics were for old specs gear, that means they would have to do some trimming for the new spec gear in order to have it fit accordingly, hence the upcharge. I'm wondering if their is an upcharge for the screen graphics like Bauer does?
  9. Interested in knowing what knee pads is Campbell wearing.
  10. Financial reasons or work policies? So what knee protection do you use if you thought the blocks were too thick? Do you paddle down much with the blocker? I find the Prime is more suited for that. Is the catcher well balanced? Does it square off well? Weight is fare? If there is less sewing involved, why would there be an upcharge. You'd think it would be the opposite.
  11. Watching NHL highlights of the week on Youtube, I've noticed that Bauer has ramped up their goalie clientele in the show this season. That makes them a close 2nd to True gear. Coincidence or great new line or just good marketing?
  12. Seb, why not make a short video showing exactly how to achieve this. I tried your Gen1 some years ago and I also found the shoulder wing to be very high at the time.
  13. I'd like to hear your input on the gear, especially the glove. Other than Matt's HR videos and the ones from Vachon on Youtube as well, not much is spread around on the internet.
  14. I hand wash my Maltese, this way I avoid material damage. Mine is maybe 10 or 15 years old now and still holding up. Despite what they are built for, you do have to be delicate with it when caring for.
  15. My gen1 1X has the rounded loop already. Bought like that. Maybe it was a shop spec.
  16. So I got to wear my "once-for-sale-not-sure-anymore-let-me-test-it-before" GT2 pro c/a yesterday during a drop-in practice. It felt bulky as I expected. Had serious issues trying to simply push my hair back to put on my mask. Even though my pants are XL, the c/a does take a lot of room in them. I also was annoyed that my mask would rub against the floaters whenever I looked down or around. Maybe I just need to make a few strapping adjustments and see. I have to admit that arm mobility is pretty good and protection is quite good. I didn't take any bombs but I doubt there should be an issue. The bulkiness compared to my TGC P1 is quite noticeable. One or 2 more skates before I make my decision.
  17. It finally happened! I stepped on the ice yesterday, at a rink, fully suited up for a drop in skate practice kinda thing cause we are not supposed to play organized hockey right now HOLY PUCK am I not in playing condition! Never have I ever felt my age like I did for that 50 minute ice time. My legs were shot after 5 minutes. Had to take four 5 minute breaks just to get my energy back. I was the only goalie (no games remember?) and it was basically some run-and-gun type of drills and some shootout stuff. I didn't suck 100% but I didn't look like star material that's for sure. One year absence can really kill your beer league career lollll. And I was testing my new blades and pads and c/a (more of that discussion in the appropriate threads). The worst part of the whole experience was the covid rules, driving back home all sweaty and smelly. My soreness this morning is prevalent but I got more pain from carrying my gear bag to and from than the actual ice experience itself. Reconsidering my wheel bag next sessions.
  18. That I wouldn't be surprised. Few companies, regardless what product or industry rarely work with public feedback. Those that do have a better chance at producing something that will sell.
  19. Looking at the pics above some more, I can already see some slight issues and possible improvements I'd suggest to the Bauer designers...if I knew who they were and could get in touch with.
  20. I strongly agree with the catch glove. The glove insert is a much better idea than what Vaughn tried to do with their GX skates. Regardless I do feel that Warrior can afford 3 different glove breaks production or simply stick with one, the 75 break. It would still sell.
  21. Looks mostly cosmetic to me. If anything I hope they improved the durability material of the 1X model as well as making the landing inside more cushy for the knee cap. Speaking of the 1X, has anyone heated the front cap to be more curved instead of sticking out wide?
