  1. Sorry to revive this, but I've recently threw my back out in a bad way recently and as I recover, I need recommendations/reviews on wheeled bags. I've recently got my kid a used GRIT Goalie tower so that he can carry his own gear and he loves it. but I have been wondering if other bags have also held up, particularity the 3 wheeled Warrior one, as I do find the GRIT tower a bit of an odd shape to fit into my car, and a bit tight in terms of space to carry my adult sized large gear. Fitting my pads inside would be a nice plus, but not a must have. Mini review on the 2nd Gen Passau Goalie backpack bag (~4 years of use) I had been using the Passau Goalie backpack bag close to about 4 years now, but after about a year and a half's worth of use, the inner lining is failing a bit, causing little specs of rubberized materials to gather everywhere, extremely annoying as I have to vacuum the bits every week. I also wish the inner liner was a brighter colour as loose things tend to get lost in the black on black. The main zipper has held up really well, still very good, however one of the zipper on the outer compartment (for the helmet) has torn away from the material, I hadn't used that compartment very much either. The bag has no real hard frame so oddly shaped things fit well enough. I found that I didn't use the skate/helmet compartment in the end. The finish on the bag was a bit poor, when I first got it there were loose strings in various places. But nothing came loose in the end, everything was fine except for that one minor zipper. In terms of usage, the bag is very large and usable and once you got it on your shoulders it is quite nice and you are mobile enough to fit through many doors. The shoulder straps are well padded and very comfortable, well placed as well as to balance the gear on your back. It fit all my gear and pads as a 6 foot, large pads guy. The internal toiletry bag is just ok, there's also a velcro there for it that's a bit odd in terms of placement. I wish there was at least one inner section for spare helmet parts or whatever, but so you end up putting it all in that toiletry bag. I've tried just using a ziploc/extra bag, but that gets moved around and lost easily. I give it 7/10 and I would try something else before I tried their Gen 3 (if I weren't looking for a wheeled alternative)
  2. I think the first part is determining if material you're trying to bend is a thermoset or a thermoplastic (some plastics melt with heat while others cure and harden). If the material in that blocker is their proprietary carbon weave, I don't think it will bend with heat. Worse, if it's layered, it might separate? But again this is speculation from my part.
  3. It was the preset. Other than the numbers the other graphics present were extremely pixelated. Having done print work before, maybe I notice things more than others. But even the outline cuts on the design were poor and not even, causing a white outline to show on the black design. But in the end, it was 30~40 bucks and a fun surprise for my kid before a tournament.
  4. I just tried Custom Cages Decal kit, and I will say that I am extremely disappointed. It was fairly cheap sure, but the print quality is sub-par, and the decal cutout was very poor causing white edges to appear on the black design. The vinyl was also hard to work with even using a blow dryer, even on the lowest heat setting it shrivelled up. I will definitely send it off to a pro next time around.
  5. A buddy of mine who is about your height uses a G4 Warrior SR sized glove and blocker, and bought Intermediate inserts to put in them. He seems to do well enough.
  6. Use them for street hockey or turn it into a wallet
  7. My goodness that's beautiful. Anyone traveling from Seattle to Ottawa for the holidays? GLWS
  8. It's still up for sale BTW, shipping was insane to Ottawa =(
  9. I think I found my kid's next skates. He's only 10, but wanting to be more independent. The only part he can't do right now when trying to dress himself are the skates, so he'd be all over this.
  10. I'll take it if the shipping to Ottawa isn't too bad. Slide into my DMs
  11. You know, a 383 Stroker swaps are real popular.
  12. Ok so a few notes. I've tried both `VViViD 3M Clear Paint Protection Vinyl Film` and the `UHMW plastic` on my kid's pads 3M - Make sure you clean the surface really well. When I cleaned using rubbing alcohol/water mix it adhered really well, and stayed on better. Waiting a day after application helped as well. Heat gun made it worse (for me) - Almost too much slide, he said that he was sometimes hard to stay balanced on his knees when shifting weight. - There was rubbing/catching on itself, and he was afraid that it would pull itself apart during a game (it came apart for me during a scramble, one ended up sticking to the other) - Better slide than the UHMW and took abuse quite a bit better. It was also easier to cut and work with and adjust to fit the pads. - Came off easy, one hand without issue. UHMW - Felt like it would stay on much better as you use a heat gun to activate the glue. Harder to cut precise shapes as it's very slippery on the scissors. - Less slide than the 3M, but more predictable as my kid describes it, he could still feel that it was there. - No rubbing on itself between the pads - When applying, the material doesn't like to curve, so you should cut well before the edges, next time I would try a smaller area as the edges took a beating, which made it eventually unusable. - Took a bit of effort to take off, no damage underneath removing it after a few games.
  13. Will you be using a resin print? I fear that a regular extrude might be fragile to impacts
  14. @indykrap you've convinced me, just placed an order of a 90 for my G4
  15. I heard UV exposure is bad for this.
  16. Why not go with a Kova itself? Or is it too expensive shipped to where you are?
  17. Extremely dangerous play by Binnington to Zucker. I thought the back of his head collided hard with the boards enough to warrant a concussion test/look. If he wants to drop gloves with another player that's fair, but he's acting tough behind the unwritten rule about not touching goalies.
  18. It got removed pretty quickly. It looked pretty darn nice
  19. In all honesty, the best thing that will help in all areas would be to lose some gut. With that out of the way, could you maybe loosen up some straps up top to make it bounce less? What I would also try to do is add sections of 3D0 or materials with similar properties like adiprene on the outside of the chest where any puck would deaden against your chest and drops down in front of you.
  20. Yeah I think the main reason is that I have a square jaw/rounder face and the chin sling put a lot of pressure on the side of my chin (mainly on two pressure spots), and I couldn't adjust anything to alleviate the pressure. Whereas the chin cup that I have spreads out the pressure on a wider surface, and I could adjust the length to perfect eh fit.
  21. I tried a chin sling and it seemed ok until I got into a game with it.
  22. Passau Pro-pack chestie. I loved the tank protection it offered but I had such a hard time moving from the bulk (weight was fine), and try as I might my mask kept on getting snagged just enough on the wings. Maybe it was too big for me, it was a custom Large made for someone else that I got 2nd hand.
  23. It might be an height ego thing, but I see way too many goalies in pads that are too big for them. Some certainly make it work, but most have some type of issues with their movements. I'm not amazing by any means so maybe I'm wrong on this, but I feel that a pad that's a bit small is much easier to handle than pads that are a little too big. You'll make more saves through movements rather than the 1" extra size of your pads (I guess it's technically 2"). All that to say: I think it may be hard to believe that you need "short" pads, but it's probably the right size.
  24. Back to the topic, I'm so in love with my 3X that I'm quite looking forward to the Hyperlight 2. I wonder how the 2nd tier will be like. Depending on my budget at the time, I might spring for a top pair. It would be cool if they did have a +2 option this time around.
