Lefevre going solo

HA. The important part is you got there... unfortunately it's taking longer for you to do the same with your gear... but I'm confident you'll realize it one day.

That reminds me though... I haven't done sh*t with my review of Axis thus far. I'll have to remedy that tonight or tomorrow. Sneak peak... there are aspects I do love... some frustrations... and a couple things I miss from 2X.

Back to the True Crafted by Lefevre discussion though...

I never said I was the brightest. Just the most handsome.

I tried to give Lefevre gear a shot over the summer. I got two games through my P2.9 gloves and just gave them up. I couldn't submit my hands to such atrocities.

But aside from jest, and actual update on the axis pads would be excellent. 👍

Does anyone here have a line to the customer service people at Lefevre? I have been trying unsuccessfully to get in touch with them regarding my order (placed through them, not a retailer). No one has picked up the telephone at reception, nor returned my messages or email. The only person who actually replied to me was on their instagram account, but they did not provide any information and have since stopped replying.

The order was placed in mid-August and shipped to me (in the US) on 11/05 via FedEx. Although the package has reached my city, it has been stuck in a loop trying to clear customs since Monday. According to Lefevre, there is some import duty or customs that needs to be paid (quote from them "Contact FedEx to pay the customs fee. In our invoicing the shipping is paid but the customs and duty is not included.") - but I have never experienced that requirement with any shipments, including other full sets of gear, from Canada in the past. It is my understanding that the reason it costs more to ship with a service like FedEx (as opposed to the post office) is because the customs brokerage is part of the shipping fee itself. FedEx has no idea what they're talking about and doesn't think any extra fees need to be paid by me, nor does US CPB.

I suspect that there is a mistake or omission on the customs documentation they included with the shipment, but thus far they have not sent me a copy of the customs documentation as I have requested. Or some other error on their part in the shipping.

I was quite excited to receive this gear, but now I am just annoyed that they are providing negative customer service value. I'm sure it's good gear, but they've made it pretty clear to me that they don't give a shit about regular customers. As interested as I was in their future offerings, I will be looking elsewhere for gear once I decide to replace this set.

You need to get that out of customs, if it has not cleared, asap before it goes general order and will get sent to a gov warehouse for additional fees and storage costs.  Have you contacted Fedex with your tracking number?

Yes, I have been in contact with FedEx since Monday when it was supposed to be delivered. They have yet to figure out why it is being held up - or yet to tell me, at any rate. If I knew why it was not clearing, I would happily do something about it.

Shortly after I posted the initial question, someone from Lefevre finally got back to me saying that they were in contact with FedEx as well, and that they’d let me know when they had more information. Maybe they got an alert that someone had made public noise about their lack of response.

Since my gear finally arrived, I got a change to play around with some of it last night when I got home from work. Feels very well balanced and comfortable. The 580 glove has a great, grippy interior, and the game ready xtra palm closed easily right out of the box. The 580 break also feels much more natural for my hand closure than the 600 break does. Hopefully I'll get to sub somewhere one night this week to dial in all the strapping before my regular skate on Saturday morning.

I had originally heard Late 2020/Early 2021, but now it has changed to Spring 2021 for the retail customizer.

Brutal, would have been a perfect time to get an order in by yearend. You think they're still fine tuning the stock retail design or is it probably final given they've started producing/shipping out pro sets already?

I'd assume its final considering how long they've been working on the 12.2. I would have loved to been able to order a pair by the holidays, I also think it would've given Lefevre an advantage over the other brands to establish their own distinct release schedule so their gear would be more focused on.

Based on current manufacturer cycles...

2021 - True 12.2, CCM EF5, Bauer Vapor, Vaughn SLR3?

2022 - True 20.2, CCM Axis 2? Bauer Ultrasonic 2? Vaughn Velocity 10?

For True/CCM/Bauer - it looks like the "hybrid" styled pads are going to war next year, followed by a "butterfly" styled pad the following.  Vaughn seems to buck the trend as I'd classify the SLR as more of a butterfly styled pad and the Velocity as more of a hybrid

I´ve heard that some companies gonna change their cycle and it´s a good decision. Maybe they release some limited edition if everything is going back to normal. Factories, hockey shops and leagues has been closed and there´s still some new old stock waiting.

Yeah, I figured as much. I Still think it would be beneficial for true/lefevre to release earlier and advertise before the other companies, as a new brand they have the freedom to make those decisions without confusing anyone.

Anyone have new word on L12.2 release? Lefevre's been posting them a lot and I'm very eager to get my hands on a set.

I messaged Pure Hockey about the L12.2s, and they said orders should open up in the spring, so - and these are my words, not theirs - I’d expect deliveries in late summer or early fall 2021.

Just put in my first custom set order through Rance at TGC. Great experience all around btw. I went with the L87 'retro' graphic, but the build is 100% 12.2 (exact same pad but the graphics). Think the wait is currently estimated around 18-20 weeks but we'll see how that actually tracks. Not worried about the wait to be honest, just pumped to finally have a custom set, only took 39 years!

Having gone through the build process exhaustingly, happy to field any questions if I can. Anyone else put in a 12.2/L87 order yet?
