And the garage once again gets more cluttered. Doesn't help that I'm still in the midst of packing up my hunting gear.

Preaching to the choir.

Wait, I see space on the shelves still... what is that? a floor? Good hoarders don't let others see their floor.

Love the copious amounts of gear, etc etc., but let's point out the real star of this pic which is the Canada Dry Tonic Water. IYKYK

I'm still too new to the game to show off my shame so brazenly.

It's great for getting stains out of the concrete.

My application to live in Sweden has been rejected meaning I have to return to the US within 3 weeks. I had no backup plan for this season.

Sorry buddy. Amazing that they can just reject you. It seems like anyone can live in the US. Guess we're not the meanies that we're portrayed to be.

I had a job offer in Vancouver in the early 2000s.  Applied to emigrate and got rejected as "unskilled labor" which I guess was pretty accurate at the time.  I could get in now, for sure, but at the time they weren't wrong.  I was salty though.

Well, based off my last performance, I hear my team is looking for a goalie.

We didn't want you anyways.

Haha.  What division are  you again? I'm in 4 here so translating to Canada I'd be Iike 11.

We have so much hockey here that it depends on which league/arena you play in.

Burnaby is the "Big One". I'm in div 5 out of 22 for 19+. There's still Weekend League, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, and Womens.

Skateful Dead is my team. Feel free to look at my middling stats lol

I'm in 4 out of 10, with letter subdivisions in each.

Shit, I'm sorry buddy. Did they say why?  Can you appeal?

I wasn't given a reason and do have the option to appeal but I most likely won't. I don't want to waste any more time this season. I'm in the process of finding a team to pick me up or at the very least one to practice with in Dallas.

Recieved my reason today. They do not have a process to extend a tourist visa for unpayed hockey players from outside of the EU. As of today I have 2 weeks to leave Sweden or 4 if I choose to appeal my case. Time to start packing and searching for teams to play for.

2 weeks to get hitched to a pretty looking Swedish lady...

Isn't that something the team you're over there should have known?

Sounds like a large amount of administrative incompetency.

It is but not on my team's end. There is next to no communication between Migrationsverket (Swedish Migration Agency) and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. In my rejection letter it states that hockey is not a sufficient reason to have my tourist visa extended, meaning no player from outside the EU can play Swedish hockey without jumping through lots of hoops and wasting months possibly years of time and energy.

To top it off it is incredibly difficult to contact the IIHF or Swedish Ice Hockey Association to present this issue.

Well this is a first.

A guy on a local app was looking for a goalie for tomorrow. Lower mid, 30+ div, why not, I'll play.

Dude then mentions to me that spare fees is $20. Yes, he was expecting me to pay to play goalie.

I don't think I've ever once had someone as me to pay to sub as a goalie. I don't even pay league fees...

So many options too, jeez.

He could also asked to be paid!

If I were paid I would no longer be NCAA eligible. I also have a wonderful girlfriend back in Texas who had plane tickets to come and stay in Sweden for a week since she's never been out of the US but obviously that plan hasn't worked.

Can you leave the country for a moment, and then apply back?

That was the working loophole 2 years ago however they changed the rules for swedish hockey. In order to play I need a valid residency, work, or study permit
