I couldn't recall which film it was. IMO Rogue 1 has been the better of the last few Star Wars movies that have come out in the last few years. I'm a huge Star Wars fan but I've been disappointed lately. So much so that I've still not seen Solo as of yet and I've been notorious for being front and center at all the midnight showings except for the last two recent movies. stackem30 Posted September 17, 2018 Share Posted September 17, 2018 Loved Hiller's throwback gear... it was a shame that the green in his mask was miles off from the green in his gear/the uniform. I also thought it was a poor decision to leave so much of that mask white, while the rest of the uniform/gear was dark-based. Hiller had great masks in his NHL days, but this one was a misfire imo. Also, what's the point of Budaj even having a "graphic" on those pads? I mean, I guess it lets you know what kind of pad he's wearing, but really, they might as well be all-white... Yes this Hurricanes design is just a his previous mask totally all based on the myth of the Pheonix bird, which always shows up on Scott´s masks. Here I painted the Pheonix in a dramatic way on each sides, surrounded by the violent force of a Hurricane?… And the closer you come the deeper into the story you come… Thanks Scott! Perhaps it's indicative of how repetitive his designs are... Aside from the usual gaudy execution, Darling's phoenix is an interesting motif. I'd venture that it's a (rather direct) allusion to his desire to rise up from his terribly disappointing 2017-2018 season. And while the timing of the mask's revealing makes me doubt this was intentional, it now takes on a nice double meaning, what with the death and destruction Hurricane Florence has caused in the Carolinas...
