Brian Heaton History Thread

I recently started playing again after hanging up the pads in 2020 before covid hit... I was pleasantly surprised that I was already a member on here and remembered my password. I am now on a late 90's to early 2000's gear kick, trying to find a few sets that I wanted as a kid but couldn't afford. Just pulled out my Heaton 10 Pro's, bought a brand new Koho 570 mask that is being turned into a Brodeur replica right now. Even found some Cujo TPS's that were in incredible condition and if I remember correctly Mr. Heaton did some work on the TPS lines.

The CCM version of those sticks were great too.

Loved those. CCM version. Remember buying one on a trip in Montreal. If I remember correctly it was black n gold.

Like the old logo more too.

Welcome back! How have you been feeling playing again?

Is there any relation between the Heaton pads and the current Brian's pads? I wore Brian's Demons (old, pre-lockout Brian's butterfly pads), and would have gone with Optik pads if I haven't fallen in love with Bauer. Brian's and Vaughn are very similar in terms of performance characteristics (Primo and Quickslide are very similar substances), but I am curious if Brian Heaton contributed more than his name to the SubZero, Optik, and/or G-Netik lines.

@ilyazhito nope - Brian Heaton has zero hands in any of the current Brian's offerings. Its been a number of years (and a few changes in ownership to boot I believe) since Mr. Heaton had any involvement with the Brian's brand. FYI - if you weren't hip to it - Mr. Heaton passed a handful (or more) years ago.

Basically, Brian's inherited Brian's name, but nothing that Brian's did since the 2000s involved him. Maybe that is why Brian's and Vaughn pads are very similar.

I was looking at old pic of my favorite goalie, Olaf Kolzig and I noticed something I had never seen before. When the Heaton 10 came out, Kolzig had his own graphic called the Heaton 10k. Don Simmons was the only place I remember that sold it. Kolzig would wear that graphic for a while and even put it on the Block add pads with the 10k marking. What I didn't know until today is that he apparently had Heaton 12 on them for a short time (see last pic)! Does anyone have any more information about this?

I know the white CCM gear he was using was the CCM Blockade gear line, just relabelled in his graphics. The dark based sets where interesting as they seems to be a mix between Heaton 10 gear and some of his personal specs. His blockers were ether the 10k model and later on he switched to the Blockade model with his graphics. I use to go to Simmons alot and loved the 10K line they had. Ended up leaving one day with the blocker, and to this day it was one of my favorites that I have used.

More of my collection to share. Jim Carey's Pro return Pro 90Z from the 93-94 season when he played for Wisconsin. I consider them Pro returns because he was drafted by the Washington Capitals in 1992.

Kick_Saves' pads are the equivalent of the guy at the dinner party who walked on the moon.

Oh you have some Heaton stuff. Wow. Impressive.

I have Jim Carey's pads.

Pass the potatoes please.

I always wanted Heaton pads but weren't in the budget.  Finally got to order a custom pair of BHGs.  One of the last sets Brian ever made.  Loved those pads.  My old Salvi Larceny clones beside the BHG.
