His jock was literally a problem in search of a solution, I will say.

For me, his elastic “professor” strap was his beat thing, and it became the worst quality thing he carried. The original stuff was pretty good stuff.

I bought one of those.  It never worked.  The one I got that came with my Passau pads works much better, IMO

meh.  he wasn't the first to come up with using elastic based stuff in lieu of skate laces or leather.  Brian's smart strapping predates him.  All he did was say "hey, I can use "military grade shock cord" and upcharge a lot."  And some of his stuff was just flat out stupid, IMO.

Agreed - none of his product was truly revolutionary.  Even his business model towards the end (take people's money and disappear) is based on the Agatone model.

I believe the elastic toe tie originally came from Dave Wilcox, but it only came on one pad in the late phases of the TPS line and was never offered as a standalone accessory.

Marketing wise, he's done what other companies have done for ages - sell on a value proposition.  "This product will fix problem Y and it's made with the best materials"

He was a good hype man, and built a good rep at the beginning for making a lot of obscure products easily accessible.  Hate skate lace toe ties?  They had them in stock ready to go.  Want a knee block with some extra padding? They could make it for you and (supposedly) had every major pad spec on file to make it fit right.  Keep falling off the back of your knee block?  Here's a strap that'll help with that.

IMO his real contribution was showing that there is a place in the goalie market for a specialist in goalie part accessories.  Look at all the toe tie guys you find on Facebook nowadays - at least a half dozen have popped up in the last 6 months, all offering toe ties, some offering a bit more.

There is an ongoing investigation and a class action suit

Any civil action is a waste of time. Jeff will just declare bankruptcy and that’s the end of that.  What will stick is a criminal probe. I’m sure I’ll never get my money back, so I want to know that guy spends a little time in the poke for what he did.

The 20-day reply period for the Laums has passed.  Anyone know if they bothered to reply or put up a defense?  I still assume they just declare bankruptcy and skate on all of this.  I hope I’m wrong.

The hearing was at the end of Oct. Jeff didn’t show up and did not have anyone representing him or the business. The judge said it was just a matter of mathematics. The injunction was granted to block him from owning a business in Pennsylvania.

Hopefully there are lawsuits in other states and Canada. Not that Jeff will ever pay, plus I don’t believe he has any meaningful assets to levy. No one will get a dime back but the more civil suits against him the better because can prevent him from scamming people in the future. Even if he doesn’t formally open a business a simple Google search will be a barrier forever.

What ever came of the lawsuit?

Nothing, really.

The lawsuit requests a court order for Monster Hockey and Laum to pay restitution to all customers and businesses that lost money. It also seeks that they be permanently banned from doing future business in Pennsylvania or to Pennsylvania residents, as well as pay civil penalties for each violation of the Consumer Protection Law.

And Sara is about as professional as they come.

I had a good experience ordering a custom jock from her. Hopefully she will eventually also make good toe ties (or at least have the option to attach elastic toe ties to PAW pads).

Jeff and Laura didn't even bother showing up to defend themselves against the lawsuit, they sent no representation to court either. Perhaps they realized the emotional manipulations they use to rationalize their fraud wouldn't stand up against actual evidence in a courthouse.
