TheGoalNet
Does anyone remember the pads with no boot break /shape? They basically had a wedge where there is a boot break and the pad was flat from top binding to bottom? I think that Pro Mask or one of the EU mask companies made them? If yes, who made them and do you have a pic?

Snowman30
Promask made them, they were called Flatpads. I remember the ads in goalie world magazine all the time about them Johan Hedberg tried a pair out with the Atlanta Thrashers for bit but went to more traditional pad after
coopaloop1234
Google Images is pretty bare on pictures. But are these them?
bunnyman666
Surprised nobody has tried to bring those back, frankly. There have been so many quantum leaps in strapping, boot attachment, the removal of knee rolls and materials that the next obvious thing to do is change the shape. After all, removing the outer roll has begun in varying degrees, from a suggestion of an outer roll to outright elimination of it by Factory Mad. May as well make the pad completely flat. SaveByRichter35
Our leg/foot isn't completely flat. So why would you make a pad completely flat?
bunnyman666
The previous flat pads were wedge shaped. I was really stating it as a joke as in change for change sake.

Rebound control and 38" was max pad size at least in Europe, this way they could make a longer pad. If I remember right NHL (and IIHF)? made a rule that there must be a boot break. Backside isn't necessarily flat... just the face. Really just an extreme of a steep boot angle I'd guess. Something like this...

The trend is losing weight, that is going to add weight.

We are not ready yet I wouldn't mind a take 2 on the full front removeable skin pads from 2005 or 2008. They were a neat idea.

Or is that just me?

bunnyman666
These are the type of thing you find for $25 at a PIAS. The thing is, most people wouldn’t even know what they are and would pass them by.

ArdeFIN
These (or the alike pair) were just a few days ago in a Finnish goalie group in Facebook and I understood that those were sold&sent to US/Canada? There is an idea in these and at the same time they just look annoying.
TheGoalNet
The fact have a boot break and knee rolls is sort of comical.
